I think its a simple situation. Cesar is on a long contract with us, he is also a great keeper but is 34. We want rid coz of the wages but no other club are stupid enough to give him the same length contract at that wage. He is obviously thinking what is the point of moving to get less cash like we all would.

Reason why we are bombing him out ,forcing a move. Whats funny is posters on here start hating him , hes done nothing wrong

It hasnt happened yet but I think it will if not in January then the end of the season. Maybe his wages are proving a stumbling block but i can see him going in January as will want to play in world cup and reckon there will be takers

I think this probably sums up the situation well. Pure drivel being spouted on this thread and poor Lewis gets accused of being a troll and has "unusual" views for saying he is the best keeper at the club when he is actually right.

We are all happy with Green this season but he has had enough dodgy moments in his career to still have reservations. Cant pull off the kind of saves cesar is capable of either. Id be surprised if the majority of other teams fans rated green as a better keeper than cesar

So you're a Cesar fan we get it.....still doesn't mean he is better than Green!

I judge a keeper and whether they are good at the basics not on how spectacular their saves are and Green wins hands down.

this. cesar may be one of the best keepers on the planet on reputation, but with us he has been nothing more than mediocre. overall for us green has performed far better.

I wonder if Green's performance has improved because he knows Cesar is waiting in the wings.....?

Not coating green off at all, but i reckon he has improved so much cos he is only getting 0 to 5 shots at him a game. Last season it was probably more 15 to 30. Lot easier to not make mistakes when you ant doing anything.

I was saying the exact same thing to someone the other day, it would be interesting to see how green would be doing if he was being tested more.

It was his first season in the premier league, alot different to the Italian and some adjustment and getting used to the different style would have been required. Yes he made mistakes but Green has made plenty in the past but now showing he is a good keeper and Hart is having a torrid time at present but im sure he will come back from that.

People on here going on like he is a **** keeper all of a sudden dont know what they are talking about. At a bit of a crossroads now and probably needs a new club and challenge to resurect his career. Thats probably what Pelligrini sees in him and he has a few years left in him so i could actually see him being a success at a top club
Agree with this..I'm really happy to have Green in goal for us but Salads only real crime was having a stupid contract which no other club wanted to match and he was too greedy/canny? to take a pay cut.

Blimey. How about a straight swap?

And on the Green vs. Cesar debate, it is not at all obvious to me that Green is better. In fact, if I had to choose one or the other it would be Cesar. That said, Rob Green has certainly played well this season and long may it continue!

green has done well for us but cesar is a better keeper. no question…

he'd be more suited to the spanish league though tbh, and iof he DOES go to city i've no doubt he'll have a few problems at some stage...

Wouldnt even say im a fan of cesars, just dont understand how green has a decent spell in the team behind a solid defence not even being really tested in alot of games and he is now the nuts and better than a keeper like Cesar.

I suppose you think clint hill is better than david luiz as clints been solid this season and luiz has had a few howlers

Feel a lot safer with Green in goal. Cesar for rangers parrying balls back into the danger area is something I don't want to see again. Cost us a a lot last year.

Not sure what you mean. There's a Green salad don't you know
