Spurs fans I have spoken to have said he's decent. Have only seen the home game he played in as can't afford the away ones at the minute, so hard to make a judgement. Didn't shine on his debut but lbf it wasn't a stellar team performance. Would give him another couple of games before making judgement. Can see he might be a bit lightweight in this league & may need to play in a 5 man midfield, though would prefer 2 up front, especially at home.

Just back and I have to be honest and say im not convinced by the lad

I think there is a good player in him but he looks like he is playing scared (don't think our style helps him). I think he would excel in a side where there is lots of movement around him as he could pick up the ball and pop it about but currently all our movement is sideways and backwards and he has come into the side and just done what those in before him were doing.

For me if he is going to make it in the bush he now has to be brave and not just get on the ball and keep it by passing it backwards but pick his head up and start passing forwards and taking a risk and more importantly drive forward and carry the ball (have not seen him run with the ball once since he joined). On three or four occasions today he got on the ball with a massive gap in front of him which he could have driven into and committed defenders before slipping the ball but he took the easy option and gave it wide.

Time for him to stand up for me as I do think he has the ability

Good post. Oh for one of our CM to occasionally run with the ball and take it into space....... Only that way can you create options.

Jack Whiltshire is the only English player who I can think of who gets on the ball and carries it forward from the centre of the park. Im not saying he will be as effective but with his passing ability if he could add that to his game Carroll could be a decent player

Cheers for the update fella. As previously said have only seen his home debut so will give him the benefit of the doubt as any player wearing the Hoops.

Thanks West. Appreciate your view as you were there. As i say he seemed to be not in the game at all, but i wanted to hear from fans at the game

Certainly playing him as a central midfielder it is so I was hoping from more of him. The link up play with Austin was non existent. Also he is losing the ball in dangerous areas again today by the sound of it. I hope someone that went today can give an honest opinion not another tw- deeps who just feel it's right to give the lad 10 games to find his feet
As someone who has played at a high level of the game, your words I believe not mine How many games would you expect to be given playing in a new team before hitting your straps? Not taking the p*ss, just interested in your opinion. Like I've said I didn't see todays game or even hear it on the radio so can't comment on his performance today.

He looks eleven years old and plays like hes eight years old. Will never make it at the top level. Today is probably the highest position he will ever be in football imo. All the posters on here saying he was shite hot. I questioned them at the time, and now im going to call them liars. We dont need him, we have better.

I agree we have alot of guys like Carroll who want to play from deep in the centre of the midfield what we seem to be lacking is a genuine box to box player.

There was this fella who seemed to rate him

“He’s a player I fully expect to go to the very top of the game – he’s a future England international. He’s got all the attributes to be a top, top player.
He can pass, he can create, he can score goals – he’s a fantastic player and I’m confident he’ll flourish here for us.”
