Messi is as strong as an ox on the ball and carroll is hardly world class and he is far to lightweight to play in a 4 man midfield. If you wasn't at the game just take my word for it.

I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Seems we have a few fans who weren't even at the match preaching their expert opinions to those who were

Reading some of your opinions no sorry I wouldn't take your word on anything football related. Oh by the way was at the game the same as I have seen all our games this season, you?

personally i think easing him into the side via #10 or RM might be better but you make a fair point that frame dont tell everything. thought yesterday showed just how delicate the balance of the side was, not surprising for a new team, but also that it has something special to it, to win all those fairly even games however you do it is something great to build on.

Anyway for Matt Phillips, Carroll, Ekotto, Kranjcar and all the new boys I think you got to give them half a dozen games to judge what they can bring to the team.
Some will start better than others, some will do better second half of the season than first etc that is just football, no guarantees - closest thing to a guarantee to buy good lads with experience like Dunne cos you know what you are getting from day one.

Phillips: Looks to get at defenders and is lively. Didnt have the greatest first touch but must be rusty so can see that improving with games/time.

Carroll: Lightweight and did go missing but showed a few good touches as well as playing the simple/sensible pass. Can see him benefiting from training and playing with O'Neill, Barton and Kranjcar.

Good post, personally thought Rednapp got it wrong yesterday and should have gone 4-2-3-1 with Carroll behind the striker with the two wide players coming inside, similar to how Swansea played at our last year. Think Carroll will be decent player for us but would worry a little that his loan dictates he has to play every game.

dropping henry who hs been outstanding for us, for a small child just cos everyone in the game says he is brilliant (with no actual evidence of such) was a liberty imo.

No evidence? Other than being in the starting 11 for England u21?
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
