Ref wages some people get so worked up without looking at the bigger business picture when it comes to premier league. Below are some examples of a possibly 2 year picture.
Remy - current in his prime (age) France international for a relative bargain fee of £8m + £70k for 2 years = just over £15m possible investment for 2 yr period, with guarantee of getting at least the fee back, but in reality probably anything up to £15m may have been feasible.
Fletcher - ok prem striker, bit better than average nothing more - fee £12m rising to £14m + wages probably at least £50k (if a club wants you that bad to pay over the odds, then his agent isnt doing his job right unless he gets at least that wage) = just over £19m investment for 2 yr period, and very little chance of gettting what they paid back with any sell on.
Doyle - as above, ok, nothing special, Wolves paid £7m = Wages again probably about £50k = investment of just over £12m over 2 years, and again no chance of getting fee back.
Lets not even talk about Andy Carroll.
They are just some examples of striker transfers and the bigger picture that needs to be factored in when talking about Remy, rather than jumping on the bandwagon some have suggesting the club hierachy are idiots and wasting money left right and centre.
For me Remy was a very good investment.... he may get the goals to keep us up, less likely now obviously, but even if not, we will get our money back with a profit on top most likely.... how can that possibly be bad business.....!?
