We have offered Barton a 4 year deal on 60,000 a week, 8,000 more than he is on at Newcastle. But also says Barton has reservations about QPR and wants to hold out till the last day of the window to see if anyone bigger comes in for him or even to decide whether to stay at Newcastle. Hope we are not being played here.

Also Independent updated its report. Says direct talks with the player have begun. Quotes Neil who says he spoke to the chairman last night who is frustrated players haven't already signed - says normally its the other way round with chairman trying to delay spending money but in this case says Fernandez "very excited" by the potential signings...

Agree Nodge. Neil in the Independent saying most bar one of his signings won't be wrapped up till Mon or Tues. Seems risky to me and as you say if we are offering that kind of money we can ask for answers quickly. At least it will show Onouha, Jenas, Bertrand etc we mean business though.Originally posted by Nodge70 View PostDon't think we can wait until the last day of the windows. Take it or leave it and we move on to other targets if he leaves it.
If nothing else, this has fired the starter gun

Sounds about right Del. I think Joey Barton is still with Willie McKay.Originally posted by Del View PostOur new owners seem far too proffessional to leak any detail, unlike the last lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if the detail has been leaked by an agent, and possibly inflated in the hope it spurs on other would be candidates to step forward....
