This might be a game for both Hayden and Varane or field in midfield with Madsen might be inclined to drop Kone for Kolli or chair with Burrell won't be a game for the gloves on in August playersOriginally posted by SheepRanger View PostVarane didn't track the runner for their first on Sat, and JCS poor marking for both goals. Varane really is poor and I hope hes dropped for Hayden. JCS was rusty but I doubt he'll play so soon after Sat.

What about Vale? Yes, he looked ropy when asked to be a right-winger recently but I still like him in midfield. Bags of energy and running and always seems to be "looking forwards" as opposed to Varane's sideways and backwards mentality.
Whatever we do, we cannot abandon the 2 up front formation. I feel it makes it easier for us to move the ball through the thirds and have a more joined-up dynamic feel to our play.

Pretty sure Vale is injured.Originally posted by Abseits View PostWhat about Vale? Yes, he looked ropy when asked to be a right-winger recently but I still like him in midfield. My feeling is we have a shocking record at Ewood. I had a look and discovered it really is...
We've played them most years since 2011 and have 8 losses, a win and a couple of draws.
The only crumb of comfort is the win came the season before last.
It certainly isn't a happy hunting ground. I've seen all the games above and we always turn up half asleep and seldom do ourselves justice. Bit weird given that for the past dozen or so years Rovers have largely been struggling and in turmoil but still routinely hand us our asses every season.
Hopefully JS will not be trotting out his qualms about 2 games in 3 days again and get on with getting us pumped and psyched to go to war and giving Rovers a hammering.

On the plus side we have a chance now to go on a nice little run for a few games, particularly if we show the same resolution as Saturday. But we must want to win it. Unfortunately an Autumn day at Ewood Park is most likely a graveyard for a leaderless and unmotivated team of 11 individuals looking to have an informal day off because they won their last match. I suspect that the temptation to have that informal day off could be bolstered by using our bad record as an excuse. I hope I'm wrong. Over to you JS.Originally posted by Abseits View PostMy feeling is we have a shocking record at Ewood. I had a look and discovered it really is...

I'm afraid we don't have the mentality as a club , not just the team . Lets face it Blackburn are in deep #### , they're owners don't want to spend , they have a bad injury crisis and they're home form is crap. We should go there as favourites , dominate the game from the start , work our socks off and the result should take care of itself. But this won't happen because we have a poor mentality and never seem to win when we are expected too or when we have a chance to get near the play offs. The same applies to Norwich on saturday who have'nt won at home all season. It happened earlier in the season away to Sheff wednesday who had'nt scored a goal at home let alone won a point and then Oxford at Loftus rd who had'nt kept a clean sheet but good old Charity park rangers always oblige.
I expect us to win 3-1 but will probably lose 2-1

Yes. By Championship standards I think we probably have the best squad we could reasonably expect given our status/budget. I know we have gaps and weak points but most of our rivals will have gaps too. So, the difference will come down to sheer blood and guts... who wants it more basically.
So, is up to JS to get the mindset and attitude right. We have to treat tonight (and Saturday) as fantastic opportunities to beat opponents with wobbly home form and go after them. I feel the next two games are kind of season-defining and will show where we are: Contenders or The Pack or Also Rans
