Yeah, we look so static when we're doing it too. When you watch say, Arsenal do it, the whole team are on the move and about three players are making themselves available to whoever has the ball. Irrespective of how aggressively the opposition press and shut down one of those three are normally available to take the ball. Also, the trapping, controlling and passing has to be spot-on too - one loose touch, one heavy touch, one extra touch or one pass slightly astray and the opposition are suddenly on you. As you say, we ain't Barcelona and let's be Frank, most of our defensive minded players aren't exactly smooth silky players comfortable with the ball at either foot. BUT.....even likes of Arsenal balls it up at some point in most games, its such a dodgy high-risk approach even when you have top class players.
I'd like to see us doing less of it, particularly in opening 10 minutes. If we are going to do it I think we should at least push up 30yds.... doing it 6yds out is madness!
