Mackie central midfield?! Erm, with all due respect, how on earth can you make such a statement when he has never ever played there for us?! Did you play him there on Football Manager once and he got an 8 out of 10 rating or something?Originally posted by Marshy View PostNo, Mackie should switch to central midfield with Diakite, put Townsend on the right, Hoilett on the left, Remy up front with Tarbs having the free role. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Why not, with Hoilett, Townsend, Remy and Tarbs all playing we need a solid central midfield that can really get their foot in. Mackie's work-rate will pay off dividends.Originally posted by qpr4life View PostAre you serious???????????????????????????????????????
Diakite and Mackie in the middle? I've heard it all now...
That team would be so unbalanced its unreal, thank **** you're not a manager

And how exactly are you going to "prove" anything...????!Originally posted by Marshy View PostI know a striker and winger is not Mackie's best position, the proof is in the eating of the cake, everyone can see he has been an abysmal failure there this season, and he has unfairly got blamed by fans for not performing, when in fact it is not his fault. His true position is a defensive midfielder, and I will prove it when I come to that post, at the moment I am just concerned with Bothroyd not spearheading our attack, because if he does, we WILL go down.
He's never played there in his life, will never play there this season, and yet you with the power of the internet and your role as forum bug will apparenly "prove this".... blimey.
For what it's worth, just becasue Mackie runs a lot and hassles players doesn't make him a good defender... .he in fact is very clumsy when it comes to tacking and often gives away stupid FK's near our own box because of it.... his use defensively has been to use his energy to double up on wingers etc with our FB. He would be completely lost in CDM role as can't tackle, is abysmal at reading the game also so will struggle to read the oppositions thinking to intercept balls and is very awkward on the ball, and in that role a poor bit of control could be costly.
Keep em coming.

give it a rest !!!!Originally posted by MarshyWe have ten weeks left till the end of the season, and each week I am going to destroy a myth that I see thrown around these forums. I hate myths, and the sooner they're destroyed in the open, the sooner people can open their eyes and realise what is wrong with the club and how we can rectify the situation.
Yesterday I destroyed the "Adel slows down the play" myth.
Today I am going to destroy the Bothroyd is the way forward myth.
Other myths I will be destroying in the coming weeks are
Warnock could not have kept us up
Derry is not good enough for the Premiership
Mackie is not good enough for the Premiership (even though I agree he is sh1te as a striker or winger, I still think he has another position to play)
Harry is a great manager
Tarbs cannot shoot
Tarbs should be an impact sub
If we go down, it is all Mark Hughes' fault
If we stay up, it is all down to Harry
If you do not agree with my post, fair play, but I am not going to let these posts become flame-wars, and if you're going to come here just to dish out abuse because someone disagrees with you, then you need some serious growing up to do.
So why is Bothroyd not the way forward. Well, Southampton are a poor defensive side. They had just leaked 4 goals against Newcastle. And it was evident how poor they were on Saturday. So a performance against a poor side cannot be used to justify a place in the team.
Yes, he might have score 3 in 5 this season, but who has he scored against? Exactly.
And how did he do at Wednesday? 1 goal in 12. Yes, that's right - are we really going to rely on a guy who has scored just once in the Championship this season?
But the biggest worry is, he'll be keeping Tarbs out of the side. And that is a HUGE mistake. But I know some people hate Tarbs, so let's forget about him for a minute. The worry is, he'll also be keeping Bobby out of the side. And that would be a HUGE mistake. Bobby has much better aerial presence and hold-up play, and is proven at Premiership level. Bothroyd has only every done well for Cardiff.
Now I know some people get excited after one game, but if we want to stay up, Bothroyd is NOT the way to do it.

If all you need is work rate then I'm in the wrongcareer, I'll go play CM with Diakite and work my saggy little nuts off. Mackie is not a CM and that's a fact. I think you should quit this myth busting role you've tried to adopt (as humerous as it is for us other posters to read) and stick to something you're abit better at.Originally posted by Marshy View PostWhy not, with Hoilett, Townsend, Remy and Tarbs all playing we need a solid central midfield that can really get their foot in. We won this weekend, because of himOriginally posted by Marshy View PostIm a very positive guy, I just get worried when I see knee-jerk reactions, because that is what makes a club go down, and we can't afford stupid decisions at the moment. We need to put the best team out week-in, week-out, and Bothroyd is not that!
He was not only the scorer but part of the reason why Remy scored.
You sir, are ridiculous...

No he wouldn't be clueless, he has all the attributes to make him into a solid central midfielder (not as THE defensive midfielder, but as one of two), and I will prove it in due course, people like you probably think a player should play in one position all their life, thats nonsense, Bale moved from left-back to winger/striker, and look at Paul Warhurst, he played everywhere, look at Gary Speed, played in almost all positions.Originally posted by Del View PostAnd how exactly are you going to "prove" anything...????!

Its unbalanced.Originally posted by Marshy View PostWhy not, with Hoilett, Townsend, Remy and Tarbs all playing we need a solid central midfield that can really get their foot in. Mackie's work-rate will pay off dividends.
1. Diakite hasnt really played with any of these players
2. Mbia IMO (You and others can disagree which is fine) has been great for us. Works hard and does a lot of the jobs that goes unnoticed
3. We need people who can play a bit off football in the middle of the park (Mackie could never pick out a decent pass - Pointless, he isnt the most skilful as we all know)
4. We need a balance (Townsend was unlucky not to play at the weekend)
5. Tarrabt is not always the best option for us - Especially when he isnt in form, we need a new option and Bothroyd offers that.

Well, I think one striker is ok if we have Tarbs, Townsend AND Hoilett. If Hoilett is pushing forward, then Townsend should get in the box with Remy and we should have Tarbs lurking on the edge of the area to make himself available. Football is all about lateral thinking, and thats where many managers go wrong, they think of just rigid formations.Originally posted by Dale View PostYou only want 1 striker to play going forward

Genuine questions; what gives you this sense of authority you seem to have about yourself? The way you make random outlandish statements, such as Mackie playing CM being our best option, and state them as facts and that you will be proven right? Why can you not simply state that it's your opinion and hold your hands up it might be wrong? Bit of a strange one ain't ya MarshyOriginally posted by Marshy View PostNo he wouldn't be clueless, he has all the attributes to make him into a solid central midfielder (not as THE defensive midfielder, but as one of two), and I will prove it in due course, people like you probably think a player should play in one position all their life, thats nonsense, Bale moved from left-back to winger/striker, and look at Paul Warhurst, he played everywhere, look at Gary Speed, played in almost all positions.

Diakite does all that, and in addition, Diakite can drive forward with the ball. Mbia just looks clueless once he gets it.
