Hmmmm. But consistent, persistent mistakes makes for a very. very bad defender. A state of the art ship might sink; but a rusty bucket, holed under the waterline, will sink. How many goals did Anton cost us this season? Count em up..... I did so on an ancient thread.

Basically you dont rate him and like most on here, you find it easy to moan at him (To remind you he is currently out on loan, so he cant be blamed no more)

Until HR came in we was shipping goals all over the place, we generally couldn't defend set pieces....

To add, I dont think AF is a brilliant defender and he isnt anywhere near our first eleven.

Samba and Hill are way in front.

However, I dont believe he is a bad defender.

He is the epitome of a confidence player.

He can be a pretty good defender when he's confident and form and is concentrating, but one mistake and his head goes and his confidence is shot to pieces.

Not being named captain on the first day of the season followed by the Swansea raping probably ruined his confidence for the entire season.

ALL PEOPLE NEED CONFIDENCE.

The more confidence you have the better you do with most things in life....

This is more of a reason to NOT BOO players... They dont like it even if they pretend they are strong enough to ignore it.

Personally responsible for numerous goals this season: among them two at WBA, one against Soton, two at Man U, one against Reading, one against MKD... But let's agree to disagree. I note, mind, that the Turkish club have dropped Anton to the bench.... It didn't take them too long to work out his, er, concentration problems. That's bad news, however, because it means the t0sspot might be on his way back.

I hold my hands up; I'm not fond of the guy, but only because he's been so bad for us, but think you make a fair point about avoiding being unnecessarily abusive.

To have confidence, and thus, to be a "confidence player", you need brain cells...... which Anton seems to be sadly lacking....... which is a shame - because he actually has a good natural touch on the ball IMO.

Just dont get it, Booing just seems pointless! It makes no difference.

I can understand the points you made above, and the fact is you have strong evidence of his failings (I'm not gonna go check this up, its believable)

I think folk have different boiling points, tbh. Mindless, endless, pointless abuse isn't to be tolerated, but I've always thought that fans- if pushed to the limit by their team's consistently poor performance and their failure to compete- have a right to make thoer opinions known even, at times, by constructively booing players or managers. I respect the fact that a lot of folk genuonely believe there's no such thing as constructive booing, but I'm glad many of us nearly ruined our voices callling for Hughes' head when we were 0-2 and 1-3 down against Southampton (not when the score was 0-0, 0-1 or 1-2 when we had a chance). It got rid of him. I wish we'd booed him much earlier in the season...... And, I have to admit, I gave Anton some stick when he woefully enabled MKDs to score their second. I guess I did that because he'd been so bad so many times all season. For instance when Clint Hill was done up like a kipper by Suarez twice against Liverpool I would never have dreamed of booing him for that. There, I guess, is a connundrum.... I guess its because Clint is honest and hardworking. There's something about the guy fans like, which means he'll never get stick. Other players aren't so lucky, but in the end it comes down to people's appreciation of performance and effort or their expectation of a player. But I agree with you abusing players for the sake of doing so is best avoided. Especially if they're trying their best. But football's a passion and we all get carried away. If we didn't care we wouldn't......

Booing MH, erm... yeah That did work and I understand the need for this. It worked and its something we all wanted.

I just think booing and slagging players of verbally doesnt work.

Like sarcastically clapping players as they get subbed.... That for me is nasty and ridiculous.

I get what your saying, just think booing is a bit mad.

Can I make a point, We was terrible for years. We got lucky and got new owners who now love the club - We should remember where we came from!
