We are obviously not going to sign them all, but surely you just don't go after one or two defenders, see what happens and then start again.

woah if teams listed 2 defenders to sign, then they would have no options, you go after a few cb's so you have options, common sense.

agreed but surely you dont have a list of 4-5 different central defenders in 2 days. We have ferdinand and Onuhua was bought as a centre half as well. This should have sorted as soon as possible. We also bid for Chris Samba in January so a centre half was needed way back then.

This shortlist of defenders has probably been around for a while, just took Saturday for Hughes to realise it needs to be looked at seriously.
