well part of the joke bush is Norwich last season bought 10/11 players, the only diff is they can't afford to shop where we do, but they spent what they could, must have been £10mill at least

its fantastic listening to other opinions about us....being talked about is a big enough compliment for me and proves we warrant their attention as it reeks of 'fear'!

Exactly what is the point in being in the premier league if you will not challenging for titles champions league Europa ect. You have to splash the cash I would hate us to be a mid table team for years and years and years it's boring no excitement would rather be in the championship. So people who hate and go on like we shouldn't be spending money enjoy your mid table or relegation battles year in year out.

We used to be like that though most seasons, which is why this is so great

Everton and Sunderland have better managers than we do. Think the close season is getting everyone carried away here. Remember this is Martin O'Neill's first pre-season with Sunderland too.

Anyone seriously think we're finishing above these two?

yeah it's possible, MON needs cash to succeed imo it all went wrong at Villa as the money dried up, now i assume he has plenty to spend at sunders, but i haven't seen much evidence of it as yet, so not sure how he will do. DM is no doubt a good manager but he has lost a major goals source in cahill, i just wonder how many more times can he keep this team in the top 10 on such a low budget

I rate Sparky highly, and hope he can do great things with us. But he's not at that level yet.

I don't see it as being negative, I want to us to be in the Premier League next season. Anything higher I'll be delighted with, 14th for me I'd be getting pissed for a week. But it seems for some 14th would be underachieving. I'd rather look at things my way

14th would represent a steady improvement and I'd personally be happy with that

How did it all go wrong at Villa? He walked away from the club. And regardless of how much he spent at Villa, he made them a top 6 side. He certainly did well at Wycombe and Leicester with no money. O'Neill is a top manager, and very shrewd in the transfer market.

Cahill only scored 2 goals in PL last season, good business to move him on. They've still got some talented players in the side, and like you said he gets results with the team year in and year out.

I believe that is underachieving we haven't got the squad to be hitting 14th place we have spent a large sum .ask your self this who has a better squad than us.

                                In no particular order.
We are on par with everton maybe slightly less so we should be finishing around that mark.
That's just my outlook I would be happy with 14th but we would be underachieving.
