Once again spot on mate. I'd rather play hill n nelson together.Ferdinands always been a liability and was a panic buyif nelson was 38/39 then yeah id agree.. he's never been fast he's been a leader at the back, spurs fans i speak to talk highly of him in his short spell.
Nelson will be our main CB next year.. and unless we sign somebody else id want hill next to him.
I just dont rate ferdinand at this level. too many mistakes / needs somebody commanding next to him to perform.
Remember him and onouha at cb? it was a disaster - only when hill came in did ferdinand look assured.Comment
Couldn't agree more GaxZE
Right observation, Ferdinand stands off from his opponent too often
Maybe the Terry business got to him , more then we can understand
Agreed,I seem to remember he had a dip in form after that incident.QPR

This is how I see the squad shaping up:
GK - Green/Cerny/Murphy
RB - Onouha/Young CB - Ferdinand/Hill/Nelsen/### LB - Fabio/###
RM - Mackie/SWP CM - Diakite/Faurlin/Barton/Derry LM - Traore/Taraabt
CF - Cisse/Zamora/Johnson/DJ?
That's 20 so far. If we assume Dyer and Buzz will be named in the squad, then I think we need another LB, CB, and another CM. if DJ or Betty don't make it, then another CF. We should be ok going in with four strikers because Adel and Mackie can play up front. Onouha can operate as 5th choice CB if required, and Traore can operate as 3rd choice LB.
Just my take on it anyway.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.Comment

ferdinand was good next to hill because theyre playing styles complimented each other. ferdinand was a quality defender at sweeping up behind hill, which is why he seemed to stand off of his man as his job wasnt to get stuck in it was to sweep up loose balls and make sure nothing slipped through, hill on the other hand was the man who put in the tackles and the headers and did a great job at doing so. this is why we improved at the back as we had complimentary players who excelled at different jobs at the back.Comment

not far off. dont think we need another left back as traore and hill can both play perfectly well there and neither likely to be first choice in their other positions. Was said on here the other day Buz had left? Think DJ to Leeds or somewhere similar. Comanding centre half the massive priority and another centre mid wd be useful as barton suspended and probably out of the door, faurlin fitness unknown and if we want to play with three in centre midfield that leaves us with Derry - who fine servant etc etc doesnt have the legs to be a starter next year imho. No Heider or Betty? This is how I see the squad shaping up:

Pretty much how I see it too, taking into account Stainrod's comment regards not necessarily requiring another LB. Transfer wise, IMHO, I think a solid CB and we are pretty much in a very good position, squad wise. Anything more, for me, is a bonus. This is how I see the squad shaping up:

I think we have the tough CM in SD,Derry and Barton when he comes back,do would like an attacking midfielder. Many on here like matty seem to keep ignoring the fact that Barton is out for 3 months and Faurlin is extremely unlikely to be fit for the start of the season,so that only leaves Derry,so it is most important we sort that position out,it's the most important one for me,but I'm sure Hughes knows that alreadyComment

Altho I think he will get a CM I also think he could have ideas there with our current squad. Fabio is versatile and I'm sure has also played in the middle for Utd. He's technically excellent, tenacious, defensively minded and great going forward so could play slightly advanced of Diakite. I also think Traore could be tried in midfield for almost identical reasons. He also always makes himself available for the ball and wants it even in tight areas. I think he could do a good job if required.Comment

Agree with your other comments esp the need for someone to play CM but as a fan base we HAVE to grow out of this idea that the board has 'only' spent 3m. The money that has left or will leave the bank account of the club as a result of Mark Hughes's transfer activity SO FAR this summer will, at a wild guess, be nothing short of £20m. Just think in an earlier window Joey Barton's "free transfer" committed the club to a reported £15m in signing on fees/ salary. Take Rob Green. Bet there was a couple of million signing on fee (or if not massively increased wages to reflect the "free" nature of the transfer) and probably 30/40k a week for, what, three years? If you do the math, that alone is serious money. I probably want very similar additions to the ones you seek but just think we should be far, far more mindful of what the board has already invested and on gates of 16k the money sure isn't coming from the fans.Comment
