    Absolutely agree, mate.

      1. Swansea
      2. Cardiff

      3-6 ?

Or are you including amateur / non-league clubs?

Not worth getting het up about. There are historical reasons for it. By that logic we should not have an England or Scotland or Wales or NI football team but a single British team.

Hmm. On balance, I'll let Merthyr (or whoever) play in some tin-pot English league and hang onto the England national side.

Well, I object to having Welsh teams in English football for the reasons stated in my last post. Wales is striking out on its own and wants to take greater responsibility for its own affairs. This if fine, but should also include responsibility for its sports teams. After all, the people of Wales voted for devolved sport. Some people may argue that clubs like Swansea and Cardiff have been in the pyramid system for a very long time, but times have changed. Wales now has its own national assembly, which it didn't have when their clubs joined English football.

          I say.......

          WELSH CLUBS OUT !!!
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Well you obviously feel strongly about this for some reason. No idea why, unless you simply don't like Welsh people in which case, say so.

If you really don't mind Welsh people then you must be saying that it's a question of legality I suppose? You're saying you think they are breaking a league regulation? This should be easy enough to check out.

If it's not illegal then you're going to have to use devolution as a reason for restricting the movement of not just Welsh football teams from playing in England but ... Welsh bands from playing in England, and Welsh people in general from working in England. Where do you stop?

Serious question? Here's a serious answer.

Although people call it the English Premier League I don't believe it was created as strictly English. Back in the 1860s or whenever, the league was open to anyone to apply. Eventually some Welsh clubs did so and were accepted.

FIFA kicked up a fuss at some point but backed down on grounds of history and tradition. However they have made it clear that they wouldn't tolerate any Scottish clubs joining the Premier League, as has often been proposed. UEFA then took a stand and told the Welsh clubs they had to make a choice because if they qualified for Europe they would not be allowed to compete. They chose to stay in the English league.

So I guess "history" is the answer.
