Raid City for De Jong and Adam Johnson

Would be 2 quality signings imo,Johnson's a class act when given a run in the side and said he wants to quit City for regular first team football.

Also must get a commanding centre back.

    Any thoughts ?

Johnson is a mackem, and Sunderland are interested. He'll attract a lot of other interest too. Can play on either flank and I'm sure a good run in a team will do wonders for him. Amazed he's not going to the Euros personally.

De Jong, as said in other threads no chance.

I couldn't believe Downing got the nod before Johnson for the euros.

        Downing is shite imo.

Johnson's got more tricks up his sleeve than Paul Daniels !!

Couldn't agree more shocking Johnson isn't in the team! Downing is awful no goals and no assists all year and gets in the England team it's almost unbelievable!

Both would be amazing signings but can't see it personally! Johnson will end up somewhere like Liverpool and de Jong will go abroad!

I think the board are serious.

As Hughes said after the final game...you wont see us in this position again.

If we can attract players like Barton,Zamora,Taiwo and Cisse to the club then why not ?

QPR approached City to loan De Jong in Jan. We got knocked back because Yaya Toure was at the ACN.

If he wants a guaranteed starting spot there's very few clubs that could afford De Jong's wages and we are one of them. trust me the club aren't going to fart about in the transfer market because they are trying to build the club and Air Asia globally in tandem

Anyone think 80 - 100k wages is expensive/unrealistic? An advertisement in ONE major national newspaper here costs roughly 10-20k. Think how much branding, impact and kudos you get for Air Asia with a player such as De Jong wearing your logo in hundreds and thousands of papers, magazines, online sites all over the world. Day after day, week after week. That is exactly the opportunity Fernandes is looking to exploit.

That's why we want big name signings and that;s why we are prepared to pay for them. As for money Mittal is quite happy to put his money in as he said in the FT last year, for him, his involvement and future investment isn't about business it's about pleasure.

Trouble is its not only a question of whether we can afford it, the player has to want to as well.
