You know what Ted, the Yak on the cheap may actually be a very good shout. He'd be very good as back up for Cisse and as an impact sub!

I'd love for us to be able to keep both players at the club, but it's not really realistic. As much as the future looks bright, we did just escape relegation.

I see what you´re saying. It seems like I´m getting a tad overexited as long as I can spend money from another persons purse!

Ps. I really hope that Cisse will manage to controll his temper next season. Heres hoping anyway!
It would also be interesting to see what kind of progress Troy Hewitt(abilty) and DJ Cambell(injuries?) can make over the summer.

too expensive and over rated (ask Pompey). Reckon he's lost a yard of pace too these days and that is what we desperately need, because the current Rs front line players are ageing fast.

What the club needs is young blood, you don't build for the future with players past their peak.

I hope various people can control their tempers this season

Let's hope for a good pre-season, and hope to get everyone back to their best. Especially Faurlin. Would be nice for a few fringe players to get a chance, but Hewitt is 22 now and he'd probably be going out on loan as he's unlikely to make the 25 man squad.

I think we only need to add 3-4 players in this window. Then possibly another 1-2 in winter. I hope Hughes can uncover some more hidden gems.

One word sums it up! Poor Hughes, no wonder he seldom smiled during matches last season.

I agree with a couple of the posts. Were building for the future so I would like to see us buying younger players now, as if we keep buying players that are late 20's - 30 odd then within a couple of seasons were have to look again to replace them.

                    how old is diakite?

hughes has a good eye for getting younger players in who aren't so young that they need to go out to the loan pasture, but can slot straight in and strengthen. i have every hope he will continue to do that over the next 6 months+!

Defoe will go for twice what you'd pay for Rhodes who is younger and quicker.
Mackie stepped up from a much lower level, and Rhodes is cut from the same cloth. They should be both be starting for Scotland, that's for certain.

Ideally, I'd prefer to see one of the home bred youngsters step up, but I'm not sure we're over blessed in that department (up front). What I do know is that an ageing bunch of very average forwards (Cisse apart, god help us if he's out) means we'll struggle for pace in a key area, and therefore struggle for goals.

I want youngsters on their way up because that is how you secure your future.

He wont get this kind of space in the EPL but he doen't **** about, which is an ecouraging sign
