I dont think either could afford him tbh, unless he is prepared to take a pay cut to play, may there be a place at Man Utd going, think about it, Berbatov,Owen both leaving?

Prone to getting the odd(cough,cough) red card, so we have to cover that situation with real quality if were going to prevent the situation we faced this season. Mackie could be an option up front but still untested in that position.

Berbatov would be great. IMO he“s a mix of Zamora and Cisse.

You couldn't play both together, and think for what we'd pay for Defoe in fee and wages it could be better spent elsewhere.

I'd love for us to be able to keep both players at the club, but it's not really realistic. As much as the future looks bright, we did just escape relegation.

We have a lot of players of around 30 years of age on Premiership money and they'll do a job for us for a couple of seasons. What we need to do is suppliment these players with some younger guys coming through that have shown a bit of promise. The likes of Victor Moses, Gary Hooper, Nathaniel Clyne........these are the sort of guys that will improve the squad for years to come!

Thats the sort of players more akin to our wage structure , Moses and Clyne would be very good signings imo
