  • Should Cisse Start Against Spurs?

I personally think he cannot play in a 4-5-1 and if we play 4-4-2 we will get over-run against Spurs in midfield.

Plus Harry Redknapp has said he doesn't like Spurs playing with 4 in midfield

I know fans will point to fact we played well 2nd half at White Hart Lane but that was more to do with the fact Spurs took foot off pedal and took it easy.

We need goals. That's the most important thing (especially since our defence has improved in recent weeks). Cisse is our best natural goal-scorer. That fact is more important than formations (which good players can adapt to). Therefore he has to start, which I predict he will. If we were safe from relegation then MH may not start him but he has no choice in our current situation, risky as it may be.

Cisse is our best scoring forward. We need goals. We need to play him.

We have to play 4-5-1 (or 4-3-3 whichever way you view it) play him in place of Mackie

i know we really need to play 451, but i just don't see where the goals are going to come from. Our midfield have chucked in with goals over the last few games but we are going to need a threat up front and for all the good work zamora does, he isn't a goal threat.

If we had played the way we did against Spuds i would have said no as I would not want to break up that team. But we look tired and slow and these two attributes we need against Spuds and I also think he will help lift the team morale.

And i dont have a good feeling either :(

I think you have a point Pete, i think 442 is a bit of a risk, and imo if we go 442 i'm not sure if we could play Adel in that against Spurs either

As others have said we need goals, play him instead of Mackie.

I think we should adopt the formation (and team) that played against Arsenal. The tactics should also be similar, dominate the midfield and we have a chance. On that day it worked because we scored 2 good goals and also managed to retain some possession. So, if we can replicate that performance, we have a chance. If the goals don't come then hit them with Cisse for the last half hour.

The problem with going with Cisse from the off is we may well get smashed in midfield and concede early goals which will kill the crowd and take the wind from our sails.

Some believe this is an easy choice whereas I say the way we performed against Arsenal and Swansea without Cisse and without Hughes' preferred formation has given Hughes something of a dilemma.

Either way, we must retain possession, we must take chances that come along and most of all our midfield (4 or 5) must work their nuts off.

We need fire power up front and not only that Cisse and Bobby will split the defence whilst having only one up will get marked outta the game. 4-3-1-2 should do it.

Got to start. I'd go with:

                              Kenny
                              Onuoha, Hill, Ferdinand, Taiwo,
                              Adel, Diakite, Barton, Traore
                              Cisse, Zamora

                              Mackie as impact sub
