I take it the risky ones being Diakite, and Taiwo? You see i would have thought BZ, onuhua, and Cisse would have come in category of proven PL signings if not steady, but good point.

Yep, there's a lot of revisionism on here of late. Have we all forgotten just how dire we were at MK Dons?

Yes and I thought the same but it now appears Cisse was risky given his mental state.

Instead of diakate we should have went for siggusson, bridge instead of tawio and I'd have made a move for Kevin Nolan. ..hindsight is great but Hughes is paid a lot of money to make these decisions.

Onohua is a good signing those digging him out are wrong. the problem with our defence this season has been Paddy Kenny and Anton Ferdinand, this is because they had been to ever present liabilities the likes of young, Onohua and Traore have all played their parts but these two have been the biggest culprits in my opinion defensively.

Yeah fair enough W12 and you back up your argument with alternate names, which would have been great signings as well as being just steady i agree.
So ideally as well you think we should have signed a keeper, and a cb?
I think btw Nolan would have been an inspired signing, having Joey in our team, good mates apparently

But we weren't much better in the replay either and Hughes was in charge then.
              Just saying!

We all know January window is very difficult to make good signings. We also don't know what was Hughes' short list? Maybe he did not get those he wanted most, apart from Zamora. This is why I think Hughes must get a chance to start a season too. He has been more successful at PL than Warnock and by that don't want to take nothing away from NW.

Siggurdson has played very successfully under Rodgers before, at Reading. He got the chance to join a team in decent form, who play the sort of football through the midfield that he thrives on. Why would he have come to a relegation-threatened side who play 442? He’s not a replacment Faurlin, and not comparable to Diakite.

Same goes for Nolan. Where would we play him? He’s at his best as a centre mid in a 442.

Sorry, Nolan is *not* at his best as a centre mid in a 442.

He’s best breaking forward as the front man in a midfield 3, or behind the striker in a 4411, or whatever you want to call it. Think Frank Lampard at Chelsea. We haven’t had this role all season. Taarabt plays in the same area sometimes, but his role is very different. Adel looks to create with the ball at his feet, rather than burst into the box.
