Just heard he's paying up his contract at Blackburn, making him a free agent. Since Ryan nelsen can sign for spurs after the transfer window has shut, can we sign samba if we go in for him.

As much as it's a very unlikely story, the fact he's named in their squad does not make it twaddle. If he becomes a free agent it doesn't make any difference whether he's listed there or not.
What hacks me off is Blackburn have put their squad up on the web site whereas Rangers still haven't even though the 5pm deadline is passed.
If we have 25 named in it then I will agree 100% twaddle. But, if we only name 24, I will get just a little bit interested in the op's information

I'm sure you can only sign free agents if they were free agents before the window closed.
So we wouldnt be able to sign Samba - noone in the EPL would be able to.
I think Nelsen at Blackburn was made a free agent just before the window closed.Queens Park Rangers Til I Die!

Not having a pop mate , I just can't see it happening !!
After all the will he won;t he saga over the last 4 weeks Samba would have to stump up best part of £ 10 mill to get released ( £ 50 k x 52 weeks x 5 years ) .....
Unless we are 'brokering' the deal !!!!
Makes a mockery of signing a Contract if the club refuse to accept a bid for you ....you can then get A N Other club to 'give' you the money to pay up your Contract and move to them !!!

If a club paid Samba the money to buy out his contract,say £10m for instance,then the club would still get a £10m 'transfer fee' and Samba joins for free.
