Did Barton play well or not?

I was reletively pleased with Barton but again i think there is much more to come from him. He looked and played more the captains role for me, whether thats down to Hughsie being there i dont know

I would hazard a guess that Hughes defo had a part to play in it

Joey Barton will have better games for us, but even when slightly off the boil, I'd have Joey in central midfield for us, over current alternatives, any time, any place, anywhere.
Thought he and Buzz were good yesterday, and as I say, Joey will have better games.

Barton played a captains game. He controlled the midfield. People may think he didnt play that well because we didnt see much of him in the attacking third, but that was because he had dropped back to allow Buz forward. The only thing he did wrong all game was 1 corner into the side netting.

The problem with Joey is there's a fine line between an average or excellent game.Yesterday i thought he had an average game, he lost posession in dangerous positions again and over hit through balls but he did break the play up well. What a difference it would of made if his passes had been 5 yards under hit, people would of been saying what a game he had.He is one of those players that people love to hate but i feel under MH we may see a very good JB

I wouldn't say he was brilliant but very solid and did what was needed. Joey has tended to give the ball away a lot in the last few months, that didn't happen yesterday. We bossed the midfield for large periods of the game and that was down to Joey and Buz.

Doesn't need to play amazing, he did a good job and played well.

Not outstanding but thought he had a decent game

he also broke u a lot of play and sat back so buzaky could get on with his game.

Barton had a great game yesterday and his performance allowed others to tick. No 50/50 split Barton was excellent.
