Whether or not Barton was a factor - and some of us have been told he was weeks ago by a certain poster - you have to question the club's handling of this as it was reported months ago he was iffy about coming south. In the v first call to Man City you would have thought Beard would have said "look, before we waste the time of either of us in haggling about a fee can you plse ask your player whether, in principle, he would consider moving down south." I don't moan when we miss out on a player but I do struggle to see why the club didn't handle this better.

Personally I think that his agent is in contact with 'Arry and will tip him off as to how much Blackburn will sell for as and when they crack. Spurs wack a bid in and it's accepted and deal done before we get a chance to react. It's 'Arry's MO innit, he's the tap up king. We're mere padwan learners in the dark arts of the transfer window. 'Arry is a sith lord. Excuse the rubbish star wars metaphors.Comment

In all honesty I don't think its the fact his mothers seriosly ill that's stopped him coming or, as Dave says, why would negotiations have gotten this far? He would have said outright he isn't moving.
But can't argue at all if it is his reason, I'm sure all of us would stay put for the sake a cancer-stricken mother.
Bit gutted about missing out on this 1 tbh.You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.Comment

Think you are right. Footballers are more slippery than politicians. Bound to be other factors (maybe he thought he cd get 80 grand a week or something stupid, maybe he now thinks he will flush out some club of northern monkeys, who knows). I will laugh tho if he ends up at Bolton and plays in the championship next year...In all honesty I don't think its the fact his mothers seriosly ill that's stopped him coming or, as Dave says, why would negotiations have gotten this far? Apparently is the word tho I am still yet to see a direct quote saying that or hear a direct quote! all i can see is His mum/agent coming out saying that we havent even had any talks with him yet!
if that is the case how can he say NO to us we havent even had talks and as for it being close cause Mancini said so he may have just been talking about the clubs agreeing a deal!
From what has been said the chance of him signing isnt very high anyway but i think people are getting their backs up far too easily on this just give it time and i am sure we will find out more!
Just chill out lads things will sort them selves outComment
