Odd, I though Barton didn't aim a headbutt at Johnson, and the 'elbow' was in frustration at being pulled/kicked. Stupid obviously, and he did let himself get provoked, but not quite as violent as you suggest.

I thought Clint Hill was stupid and thuggish against Bolton. We still lost him for three games, and at the time he did it, we had no replacement.

i think some "fans" on here just hate joey barton and no matter what he does they will have a go! but lets be fair on this matter he shouldnt have been sent off ,its as simply as that and all the joey barton haters on here know thats the case! as for sayinfg you hope he gets a four match ban that my friend is a focking disgrace!

karma, barton did the same thing to gervinho whilst playing for newcastle v arsenal earliar inthe season, they all do it ,when i played on a sunday i wouldnt have played in the same team as any melt that deliberatley held there face like a girl

Doesnt he say that players reputations are / can affect the decision..bearing that in mind, if you were JB with his reputation...would you be dumb enough to wound up and do what he did?? or would you be the bigger man, walk away and win the game for the club you captain..then have a dig on twitter?

again, he should be dissapointed that he got set up all fell for it
