I hate to say it but you're never going to win this battle. 'engineer' has taken on additional meanings in the English language over the past 30 years or so, it's just evolved that way I'm afraid as languages do and especially English. Just look at the word 'gay'!.
When I worked for an engineering and construction company in the 90s I used to love calling myself an 'IT engineer' to wind up the 'real' engineers in the company (the ones who were my mates obviously).
People used 'engineer' for **** jobs then and they still do now. It didn't change then when engineers moaned about it and it's not going to change now. I would just give up, it's a lost cause and shouldn't even matter to you anyway!Comment
