Roberts would be a backward step. We need quality Premiership players who have still got something to prove and although he has scored a fair amount of goals in his time, he is well past his best.

No better than what we have and too old. The average age of our team is pretty high, we need to sign players to play for 3/4 years.

Agree, although really young English talent costs silly money. But its one thing getting a brilliant player towards the end of their career (like Anelka) or a workmanlike one (Roberts). Hopefully this is just his agent spinning to bounce Blackburn into giving him a new deal...(its reported elsewhere Kean has booked lots of meetings in the coming weeks with agents).

This is the problem with us being linked with the likes of Defoe (and possibly Pavlyunchenko), it is clear that it's just paper talk and people get their hopes up, then when we're linked with a player at our level he is branded useless. Face it, we're not going to sign the likes of Defoe. Just support the player who we eventually sign instead of turning your nose up at him. Roberts is better than Helguson and possibly Bothroyd anyway IMO.

January is not an easy time to get players as most clubs don't want to sell. So if we are struggling to bring in say, our top targets and Roberts is available for a low fee I say go for it.

At the moment as a fan-base we are completely in the dark. Are we really ambitious and after people like Defoe, or are we going to take a chance and scrap away in the hope of getting 17th spot and sign people like Roberts? Tony and Neil are prob the only ones who know.

Borrini,from Chelsea who was on loan at swans looked good last season.Deff should get Marvin Emnes in too.Maybe take the brazilian keeper from spuds as well

I dont think He would be long term signing ,could be handy on a 6 month loan to give a bit more tme to find a younger long term signining with a sell on value wich does'nt apply to anelka Defoe and just about everybody else we've been recently linked with
