QPR want Jason Roberts in January

According to the Daily Fail that is:

Queens Park Rangers are plotting a January move for Blackburn striker Jason Roberts. The 33-year-old is out-of-contract at Ewood Park at the end of the season and is yet to agree an extension.

Is he good enough? Especially when you consider that he turned us down last year?

Would have bitten your arm off for him in the summer but now he seems like a bit of a come down on Anelka, Defoe, Pavlechenko. He's a good player but isn't getting any younger and not sure he is a huge leap forward in what we have. Suppose it would help weaken one of our biggest rivals tho.

Haha, we need to be aiming a bit higher than this... However he would add to our strikeforce I guess..

Cant say I would be too excited tbh. Werent we linked with him last year too? Wasnt overly excited then. IMO, hes not as good as Bothroyd Helguson or DJ and so we should be looking for abit more quality than him in January.

particularly if we are looking at 45-50,000 stadiums. Defoe is a 45,000 stadium player. Roberts, solid tho he is, is more a 15/20,000 stadium player.

Don't matter mate, even if we did go for him he'd be long gone b4 any stadium was built.

I think Neil Warnock have done a brilliant job for Qpr so far but seriously! Is Jason Roberts the best we can aim for!

                    We need a goal scorer,

Fair comment mate, will take years to build. But if we want to be sure of still playing in the Prem we need to sign better than him imho. Nothing worse than building a massive new stadium then playing in the Championship - look at Derby, Southampton, West Ham, Coventry and prob several others besides. In Jan we can't take the risk of doing it on the cheap (and I realise its easy for me to say because its not my money).

His PL record is 36 goals in 206 games over 9 season in the division. As people have said, he is quite a solid player and wouldnt say hes awful at all, but I do think if we are to make additions to our forward line (which we need to!) that are going to improve our squad and chaces of survival we certainly need mroe prolific goalscorer.

Indeed, it would be like getting a better Patick Agyman or Rob Hulse whereas wat you actually need is a better Jay Bothroyd/ Heider Helguson/ DJ Campbell - in other words someone who would walk into our first team, not beef up the bench.

No better than what we have and too old. The average age of our team is pretty high, we need to sign players to play for 3/4 years.
