Ilove derry with a passion..but would hate to see him hopelessly outclased by gerrard, lampard et al..

Tbf mate so will most midfields in the league, were not guna be challenging the likes of Lpool and Chelski. We need to make sure we can compete (and win) against the likes of Norwich, Swansea, Wigan, Blackburn etc.

And looking at their sides, well we won he league ahead of Norwich and Swansea so we know Derry is fine against them, and Wigan and Blackburns midfielders (Ben Watson & Hendry Thomas and David Dunn & Brett Emerton?) IMO, arent guna cause too many problems.

Mate..totally agree..If we can stop kidding ourselves we are actually a great team and tarbs is a good player..we should have some chance of staying up..we now have the fire power and can possibly compete with mid-league midfielders, we can poss stay up.
Our defence is rubbish, even considering last years record - lest we forget- last seasons champ teams were very poor...

I'm spending 1500 quid a return flight to get home and i wouldnt do that to watch my team loose...

He wa relatively slow in the big games such as Cardiff who had a premiership midfielder in olofinjana but his desire and positioning got him into areas which made him the difference. I see this statement a lot but don't understand what its based on. Derry played 45 games last season and was fit all the way through it, he is a professional footballer who trains all the time and as far as I'm aware hasn't had any major injuries in his career (might be wrong there).

Is it because he has grey hair or that he is 33...as I can't really find in solid justification for this statement?

Totally agree mate. Funny i was gonna do a similar post cos i couldn't understand all the negative comments about him. If it wasn't 4 him we probably wouldn't be in the premier league right now. The very least we can do is give him a chance to cut it in the PL. True we cant afford to have any dead wood but if Dezza cant cut it anymore then we can offload him in January. The guy deserves a chance tho and its never been about his speed. Its about his commitment, positioning and reading of the game. Remember Ray Wilkins? The guy never had speed but he was always in the right position when it mattered. Anyways i cant make Bolton but will be there to see for myself at Everton. U R'sssssssssssssssss
