when we got stejskal Don Howe said he would become the best goalie in the world , once he learnt English , and said he should go to places like Sainsburys to pick up English , alas his English didn't improve and niether did he , was allowed to leave on a free transfer to a 2nd rate Chech outfit after 4 years
Football played the Charlie Ferris way

Which at the time would have been like stepping down 2 divisions from us.

So a few unresearch facts from myself makes you right then, not that i can be bothered to check whether you are right or wrong...pretty certain though I see Stejskal play a hell of a lot more games than you to form an opinion about how good he was

Doesn't matter how many more times you saw him then me, when you were clearly doing hard drugs at the time(13 years old and all). Didn't see Pele or Maradona play much either, still not gonna argue with those who rated them. 98% of Rangers fans rated Stejskal, that I'm pretty sure about. http://www.queensparkrangersfc.com/stejskal.htm Good read, if you can be bothered

Give it time before we make such illogical leaps of faith.
                    Always liked Hucker.Quality keeper.

Think Paddy is maybe 7th or 8th in the Prem.

I was doing drugs and all at 13 years old, maybe thats the way you are brought up where you come from but I can certainly say that was not the case for me what a backward thing to say. Also the fact that I see Stejskal play virtually every home and a large majority of away games IMO does give my opinion more strength than yours so tough titty.

A good article but these 2 quotes sum up for me what a hugely inconsistent keeper Stejskal was. I'm not buying the whole pass back argument or language barrier, all goalies were in the same boat and football to me is a universal language.

He showed glimpses of his ability but all too often he would lose concentration during games and was unable to communicate with his back four which led to mistakes. An injury crisis at the back didn't help him as he seemed to have a different back four every week and any keeper would struggled with Brian Law and Gus Ceaser in front of him.

The side began to slip down the table in a difficult few months for Stejskal. Fans began to call for Tony Roberts to return but Stejskal was a keeper with bags of ability and after a tough start he began to prove what a good keeper he can be.

                      and

This season though saw a problem not just for Stejskal but for all goalkeepers as the back pass rule came in meaning keepers had to be strong with the ball at their feet as well as in their hands. Stejskal found a few initial problems with this and found himself dropped from the team after a game against Crystal Palace. Stejskal was caught dribbling the ball out of his box and conceded a goal and the result was Stejskal was dropped to the bench for a few weeks.

He found it difficult to get back in the side and often swapped the number one shirt with Tony Roberts as the pair of them fought to get a place in the side.

Decent keeper yes, but world class no where ****ing near and always prone to a rickett, Paddy Kenny is a far better keeper IMO and the best we have had since Seaman..

That's your opinion(The opinion of an 11 year old at the time btw). The vast majority will disagree with you

Stejskal played ONE game with Law and Caesar in front of him.

Caesar only ever played 4 games for us.

Stejskal chose to go home to the Czech Republic at the end of his contract to Prague to be with his family and finish the properties he was building. He was offered and turned down, an improved 4 year deal with us and also offers from West Ham and Southampton.
We never replaced him. Crucial factor in our relegation two seasons later IMO.

Opinions are fine but we can't bend the facts to suit them.
