It's true, he would score goals in any team.

Just imagine our squad line up with Kevin Phillips?

You'd have to have us to win for sure.

You can't guarantee anything in football, except Phillips would score goals...

That's the most frustrating part in my view. Trouble with him now is that as his contract ends this year we would only get 20 games out of him before the "Sale" (otherwise known as taking advantage of being a "free agent") starts all over again.

We could buy him on the cheap I suppose, but if we weren't prepared to give him a 2 year deal a couple of years ago, why would we now give him a year and a half ?

Celtic target veteran Birmingham City striker Kevin Phillips
Jan 17 2011 Exclusive by Mark Guidi

CELTIC are eyeing a swoop for Birmingham City's veteran striker Kevin Phillips.

The 37-year-old hitman is set to be allowed to leave the Blues during this transfer window and the Hoops have been alerted to his availability.

Parkhead gaffer Neil Lennon is in the market for a striker and Record Sport can reveal Phillips is one of a number of names he is checking out.

The ex-Sunderland, As ton Villa and England star is nearing the end of his career and wants to play regular football.

The prospect of going to Parkhead and having a chance of winning a league title appeals to him.

City boss Alex McLeish will allow Phillips to go once he has brought in new strikers.

Lennon has made it clear he'd like to add some more experience to his squad for the title run-in and Phillips would fit the bill.

You always have to spoil things, don't you? I'm confident he'll want to win promotion and play in the prem league for the real team in hoops!!

He's 37, not going to last 90 minutes. We don't need a bit player.

If we got Phillips we would get promoted for sure. Bit part or not he would score enough goals and be worth an extra 9 points to us. Take saturday for instance all we lacked at Burnley was the killer touch. Phillips would've turned 1 point into 3 !!!

                            Exactly.

He doesn't need 90 minutes every game to score goals with the chances we create. As opposed to what we have now who can't score even if they get 90minutes.

I think we'd be guaranteed promotion by February if he'd started this season with us.

Haven't posted for a while but those that think Phillips could not do a job for us are just plainly wrong.

Probably the same people that are suggesting that we try someone unproven at this level.
