PL confirmed today that the Van der Vaart deal was completed yesterday before 18:00. All ok - no special dispensation like Arsenal had with Arshavin and Chelsea and Arsenal had with Cole/Gallas.

I think Pete only talks down to people when he knows he's on a losing streak and his knowledge is undermined and the glaring weaknesses are highlighted by others. Sad, but proven a number of times. Shame, as I like this site, Pete and MYU do an excellent job with the features and the vast majority of the posters on here but there seems no place for questioning or factual re-alignments. I'm not privvy to information, but must be in clubs interest for these deals to go through and the football league.

Whatever happens these players are ours and if its a loan than it won't cost us much at all.

Thats not quite the whole story. Clubs often arent prepared to release players until the 11th hour because theyre waiting to see whether they can get the right replacement in, bit like a daisy chain, or house-buying...and occasionaly you get gazzumped
