Good player and would have been good additon.....but for £3million? Not that good and think the money will be spent better elsewhere on a striker hopefullyComment

I'm gutted, goddards report and the thought of us spending 3.5 was awesome.

Yes, I'm some way short of mortified this one has slipped away. I see the reaction on the Stoke thread suggests they are slightly underwhelmed. And Ipswich clearly wanted rid at all levels. Decent enough player. Better than Hogan But £3m + seemed a bit strong.
Interesting to see what Keane does with the dosh. He will want a striker so will be competing with us (this sale was rumoured to be funding a bid for Chopra but guess that might have fallen thru post-Bellamy). My guess is he'll be moving quickly so we have obvious competition for any proven talent out there. Unless perhaps a Kitson loan was a hidden part of deal?
I am afraid I don't share the inference some have drawn from this saga (i.e. that this somehow proves we are prepared to spend big). That might be true but this escapade in no way shows that. All this was was a bit of total speculation that we might be prepared to spend money. That's all. Vanishing smoke.Comment

Agreed.
The fact that a Premiership club wanted him shows what a good player he is and how he would have been very good for us.Comment

Spot on.All this was was a bit of total speculation that we might be prepared to spend money. That's all. Vanishing smoke.
Speculation that we're "looking at" this or that player and may be prepared to pay whatever is a world apart from actually spending money.Comment
