If you have eyes and functioning hardware you could see two lucky goals and an easy assist, but overall game no good but ok because of being in the right place. Still the same problems and without Burrells running and checking we would’ve been in more problems. Pompey goal his fault. Yesterday was hot, and Pompey’s press prob was affected by that and the tempo overall was a bit slower with loads of breaks. That suits him better, but come normal temps…..

Clutching at straws with that normal temperature comment. Just think people are being harsh to a loyal servant to this club. Got two goals and an assist and still not happy. I think people are going to eat their words regarding Ilias this season.

Will admit to him being at fault for their goal though.Comment

Ilia’s didn’t play well first 20 and was at fault for their goal, but his layoff for saito goal was a brilliant part of a brilliant move and he scored 2 by being in the right place and getting up the pitch. He works very hard amd is getting fitter every game. Just get behind him guys and he’ll be better still!👍 2Comment

Harsh saying his goals easy yesterday Linelar made a career doing same thing. Squad game and tbh when he’s had dykes bonne and co to feed I’d be tempted to keep the ball
he’s 100 loyal to The Rs not many pros these days are he looks fitter lost weight and better suited to the 10 than out wide imo👍 2Comment

Absolutely mental.

2 goals, 1 assist, 3 away goals, top of the league.
Moan, judge, moan, #### off.
Lets just enjoy it and support them positively👍 1Comment

The thing people are missing with the goal we conceded yesterday is that the players very very clearly had instructions to focus on limiting them on the outside/wide.
You can see the same close down attempt that Ilias applied on that goal happening all game. Focus on the outside and suffocate them out there.
Its why we looked so weak down the middle, management didn't fear them as a threat down the middle and instead focused on closing them down out wide instead.
There was several points in the game I noticed out wide on the right two other players doing the closing down and Mbengue being the clean up / third man. It was wonderful to see and clearly the team had the strategy right.
So ilias was just doing as instructed is my guess, focus less on the middle and focus on the wide. It just happens that their player scored a fantastic goal in that moment.Comment

I have always thought Chair should play much further forward, he can’t pass backwards if he’s in their 6 yard box.I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

Just try to have many thoughts in the head at the same time. ”We won, let’s just enjoy it, be positive” is never enough. That kind of thinking is for the easy to fool and never for the teams that takes the next step and should 100% F##K OFF
Thought no 1: Yes we won yesterday and that is brilliant. We also played well at times and Kamara looks really promising. Mbengue made a super pass to Ilias. Edwards also was important in a new-old role.
Thought no 2: Chair was at the right place but was lucky when he scored his goals.
Thought 3: He was at fault for their goal.
Thought 4: If we shall keep on winning we have to analyze what was good and what can be done better.
Thought 5: Chair is a problem, can’t check, not working hard enough, can’t beat his guy, taking all corners and freekicks even though he’s not the best option, when things not going so well -very negative to other teammates, never going in to a duel, slowing down our play, playing mostly sideways……etc. Use him as a impact sub or, if sulking, sell. We’re ready for the next step and Chair is not the solution for that.Comment

He literally didn't take ll the corners or free kicks yesterday, despite being on a hat trick he let Vale take one near the end.Comment

Many of the criticisms over his contribution are based on his role as a winger, but JS has been clear in a recent interview that he sees him as a Nos 10. As far as im concerned, he starts with a clean slate in his new position. Based on yesterdays performance hes made a very promising start and his confidence must be high.
Ive watched his two goals over and over again, and I cant decide whether he produced two smart dinks to get the ball passed the keeper, or whether the ball got
over the line in a lucky scramble that may not have worked on another day... ? But a lively performance with two goals and an assist should be applauded. He was the right place when it was needed.
Im just glad that he's going to be a fox in the box from now on rather than cutting in from the left wing and putting in a weak shot that would need a 9yr between the sticks to have any chance of scoring from.
I can see us going up as champions with Chair being the leagues top scorer......

I've always been a supporter of Chair, but after the last 18 months I can understand some fans questioning his ability.
For me he will always have the skill to produce something magical, how often he can still do that remains to be seen.
Its early days, anything can happen, but I was just pleased to see his name on the score sheet again, even if his goals were "lucky".Comment

Nobody on here dislikes Chair. His career and progress have been in the doldrums for at least two seasons so he cannot expect to be an automatic starter - he needs to earn his place in the starting XI by being consistent, making significant contributions and performing well.
On Saturday, he negated any need to discuss his performance by making three significant contributions... he's first name on team sheet for Saturday now. It's now up to him to play well enough to keep hold of his place. Whether you deem him as midfield or attack, we have compelling options to replace him if his standards drop: it's a high bar he needs to meet. Basically, it's as it should be - competition for the shirt to keep him on his toes.👍 1Comment

Not been his best past couple of seasons but I’m in the give him another chance camp. Could be with being a little less greedy with the ball but definitely has a goal in him. Looking forward to SaturdayComment
