    Season Predictions

I know I look at things with rose tinted glasses, but with our defensive recruits, I think that 8th play off space is realistic. If we get a bit of luck with injuries then why not that 6th spot for a more favourable route to Wembley?

If we finish 12-15th again, I will be very disappointed to say it mildly!!

Depends on transfer activity still to come. Don’t see us grinding out close wins against physically tough sides unless we toughen up significantly (and keep Ronnie of course).

I think this is the season where we sort out the inconsistency that's blighted the past several seasons and we finally wave goodbye to The Championship. I think we laid the foundations at the end of last season and we'll build on that to tot up a steady stream of results when the season starts. No last minute capitulations and no getting walloped 1 week then winning the next.. just steady heads-down "1 game at a time" consistency as we grind through til May. With playoffs going down to 8th everything will deffo go down to the wire.

Mid table for me. Tough division.

considering we haven't finished higher than 9th for 10 years i can't really see that changing - if we get on a roll and if (and thats a big if) and we keep a fit squad then 8th place could be up for grabs but if the last 10 years are anything to go by then i think a hat trick of 15th places could be on the cards.

              Pretty much my sentiments.

Not sure 8th is within our grasp though.

              Unfortunately...........

Well at least the worst case scenario seems to be mid-table, again. The relegation mob seem to have disappeared which is progress in my mind!

Nobody's tipping us to excell either. After so many years of mid table nothingness , any optimism seems to have disappeared.
                    I'll go for 10th.

I think if we keep Ronnie an toughen up generally given the departure of Cook and Hayden, we might surprise a few people.
I have lost track of what happened with RND. Is he ours or SU’s?
                      Thanks

RND went back to SU at the end of his loan. We got Kemper, and having returned to full fitness Larkeche will probably be the back up. Im assuming Esquerdinha will leave the club at some point this summer.

Lampty and Adamson will fight ut out for RB, and if Ronnie goes Mbenge will go into the mix for his natural CB position...perhaps

Im still recovering from the wounds caused by setting up the "promotion" thread last season!!

Its hard to call out a automatic promotion with West Ham, Wolves, Boro, Burnley and Southampton leading the charge.

Perhaps a "Play Off" thread will be more accommodating!!

                          .

The manner in which we ended last season still leaves a bitter taste. Injuries will do for us: mid-table finish at best.

I was gonna wait until Pompey match thread to remind folks we are currently winless in six and have lost four on the trot in the league. We deffo missed a trick at the end of last season in terms of building some momentum or laying down a marker for this season. Makes the Carabao game with Wall pretty crucial in terms of setting the tone for going forwards.
