  • Stephan's Time is Up

I think his time as our coach is up.

Too many mistakes were made this season by him and his coaching staff.

I don't see things improving dramatically if he remains next season. There has been no real improvement since Stephan's arrival as head coach.

He has been backed by the owners in the transfer market. For me, he was the wrong appointment last summer. We need a strong coach with good man-management skills.

I can see the owners announcing a mutual termination of his contract very soon. In my opinion, there is no way he is an improvement on Marti.

    Just my opinion.
Who would you bring in when he goes?

My choice would be one of 2 if they wanted the job.

    1. David Wagner. Did an excellent job for Huddersfield.
He knows how to get teams out of the Championship.

    2. Liam Rosenior.
Did a good job for both Derby and Hull.
Chelsea's job was too big for him.

Any of those 2 would get us in the top 8 next season.

Julien got some good results this season.
But for me it's time to say thank u and goodbye

I agree with much of what you say, but I don't think Whimper Man will be going anywhere anytime soon. I rate him a little better than Marti, but not by too much. Anyway, try and make the most of next week's defeat as it's the last of the season (thank God).

      I'm 50/50...

Ultimately, I don't believe he is capable of taking us up next season.

At this point I expect all the "White Knights" to come galloping in pointing out how unrealistic I am, reminding me about our piddly budget, wage bill, fanbase etc and telling me I should be grateful for finishing 15th-ish every year and JS is doing well all things considered.

Well, no.... I want to have a season where we are constantly in the promotion mix, ie never below 10th. That's not a big ask in my view but I don't get the sense JS instills any belief or confidence in the team. I accept we'd have to "punch above our weight" to go up but he hasn't got us throwing any punches.

So, I wouldn't be gutted if he was still here in August but I'd prefer him not to be.

Totally agree with this, but I don't think it will happen because with the new '8 teams innovation/trap' aiming to be in the top ten may mean accidentally qualifying for the play-offs!

I think the relationship between Christian and his (any) manager is key. Actually I don’t believe it matters very much who is our manager whilst Christian is there. If they are yes men, they keep their job and “project QPR” continues, at the expense of success.
If they are not yes men, don’t take the job! You will be irrelevant.
Ours is not a normal club.

They both definitely need to go in my opinion.

Give him another season as he should learn by his mistakes this season, injuries didn’t help him

Anytime a new Coach or Manager have been appointed it’s been with the approval of the owners. Ex Norwich Manager Thorup openly stated he turned down the job before Stéphan was appointed.

It’s easy to blame Nourry for picking the wrong new Coach ,buying the wrong players , or being thought to select the first team but in reality the only criticism I have with him is not already showing the door to Williams and our medical staff.

I don’t believe the rumours that a Brazilian Coach is coming but I do believe the rumour about a new Coach is significant to suggest he needs to shape up or be shipped out early next season.

It’s absolutely ridiculous to suggest changing the manager again.

the fact that he hasn’t had a full squad to chose from for most of the season- the best run we had was when we had a fit squad.

changing the manager every few months does nothing - look at the likes of Watford how well has that worked for them.

this year has been such fine margins you could almost say 2 games - Wrexham home and yesterday- there are 6 points gifted to the opposition- which would have given us a league position that may have meant we had have a season where we have moved forward.

if anyone needs to go it’s the entire fitness team - their inability to keep players fit or strengthen them has had a massive impact on us.

and maybe the ground staff the pitch over the winter was shocking and definitely contributed to our injuries.

Give JS another preseason and transfer window and then let’s see where we are.

I just don`t understand why he sets up a midfield that only knows how to play attack. In that respect the bucks stop with him doesnt it? It has been that way even before our injuries and it never stops...It seems like.

We’ve taken a wrong turning. When Lee took over as Chairman and Christian took over as CEO. Christian’s’ skills were (apparently) in analytical and advisory matters. This somewhat cerebral approach to the gnarly world of The Championship, is rather unlikely to see any meaningful success on the pitch. Why would it?
JS role in things is at best borderline. But I think any manager might struggle given what he is confronted with.

Find him dry uninspiring His pre and post match interviews are all bland and the same thing all the time, not sure he could inspire a dog to go for a walk, his substitutions are baffling at time especially yesterday. Not sure if he should go, who do you get it certainly wouldn’t be money bags who just let the scum. Not sure we done the right thing getting rid of Marti , so unless Ariola fancies the job we may have to stick with Julien, not sure there’s been an improvement in the team but more points than the last 3 years so I suppose you could say we’re better. But don’t think so

You make a good point there..... My stance has always been that the buck stops with the manager - he's the one tasked with getting the best out of what's available to him. But, maybe that's overlooking how much input and direction is coming down from Nourry though. But, at the end of the day, I can't see how anybody other than JS can take responsibility for our wildly inconsistent performance levels, not just from game to game, but even within individual matches.

Overall I'm not getting much sense of a groundswell of opinion backing JS or claiming he's got a notable talent, the only support for keeping him seems to derive from the idea that changing managers willy-nilly doesn't achieve anything.

I think we'll replace him this Summer. He's not improving young players and not following our playing style.

Kolli and Morgan, last seasons young prospects haven't pushed on this season. They've gone backwards.

                              Switched to 4 4 2. Should be 4 2 3 1.
