  • Player of the season

I know there's still 6 games left but it's coming up to that time where we need to decide who gets this award.

Hard one to pick as up until a month ago I think Madsen would be most people's choice. Now I'm not so sure.

Dunne has player every game this season. Kone has started every game in 2026.

Vale has the most goal contributions per games played.

Madsen leads this overall but hes played 9 more games than vale.

For me based on the amount of games played i would pick Kone who for a 22 year old and never played at this level before, has scored 10 in all comps in 38 out of the 40 games so far, has had a great first season for us. Leaves everything on the pitch, never gives up, has a leaders mentality and seems a great guy to have in the dressing room.

Plus he's an out and out striker who scores goals.

Had Burrell stayed fit it could have been him who got the award. I suspect Madsen will get the award based on his numbers and the sheer turnaround in his performances.

Any thoughts from anyone else on here?

      Madsen - all the way
Burrell - if he had played all season

I was trying to come up with a player the other day. Burrell looked a shoe in before his injury, Vale has been very good lately but was very patchy earlier in the season. Jimmy Dunne has been an absolute rock at the back once again. Kone has been a great addition, he works hard but he did have a poor run of form mid-season, he's definitely one for the future.
By process of elimination I have to go for Madsen, he's been consistent and we really struggled when he first got injured. He does seem to be able to create more chances than most players, but more than anything it's how far he's progressed this season compared to last. Last year I was mystified as to why he was picked every week despite being poor week in week out, this year I'm disappointed when he's not in the starting line up, such a turnaround is worthy of some form of recognition, so he gets my vote.

i Know we’ve been totally unpredictable but hopefully we’ve learned lesson for next season given too 8 are for play offs

Hard to disagree. That's why I chose Kone. Cant really give it to someone like vale who has played 25 out of 40 and has been a bit in and out up until jan this year. If the season started in Dec then vale would have been in the conversation imo. Shame burrell got injured as if he stayed fit and ended up with 15/16 goals then he would probably have got POTY.

I was looking at Semenyo's stats in championship between age of 21 and 23 something like 14 in 64 albeit as midfield/winger rather than no 9 but Kone is up there and plenty of time to develop You occasionally get the prodigies like Rooney/Michal Owen and even Clive Allen who score plenty in the top flight at 17ish but Richard has done well and as has been mentioned done at lot of hard donkey work for the team .So I am going for Richard though I understand the votes for Madsen and Dunne.
