Sam Field

We were better then Southampton this game. Two errors cost us. For me the big question is what has happened with Sam Field? One of our best and consistent defensive midfielder of the last seasons.
We are missing him to stabilise our defence. I am not a fan of Varane at all.

Personally I think we are missing a trick by not playing him as a lcb. Hes big strong, good in the air, can tackle, can pass and is a fit as a fiddle. Our other lcb is as weak as pi ss!

Not seen much of him this season , got in the end of a header last night. Saints won everything in the air last night bar Sam's flick.
No doubt as the clueless JS shuffles the pack every game we will see him start soon .

Maybe some of the FM playing boo boys will now see what it is Sam Field brings to the pitch.
With him in the 11 we have literally a shield.
People don't seem to understand the different cogs needed to make a team.
Sometimes playing what they think is a lesser player actually helps a team.
Too many think if you can't thread a pass you should be dumped.
Remember Ollie, Barker, Derry?
You need players who have good characters and deliver different assets to the team.

Sammy went off the boil last season and doesn't seem to have rediscovered his form this year - can't blame JS for leaving him out, he can only judge and assess Field based on what he's seen.

The few times Field has filled-in as an emergency left back have been pretty dire - I dont see that as a viable avenue for his return to the side unless we're desperate (which we may well be imminently.....).

I tend to agree, having "Field the shield" breaking up play is something we are missing and you don't necessarily have to be a player who has a pin point pass or can beat players with a turn and pace. Just win the ball lay it off for somebody else to do the flair play. The thing is I don't remember Sam winning that many tackles this season. Though I may well be wrong in this.

Whenever we are playing cack we call for those on the bench . When we get them playing and we are still losing we call for the others back .
This has been going on for years .
I don't always think that it's a personell problem but the way we are set up to play .
Whoever we play in midfield we are weak there .
Sam field deserves a start after 2 home losses why not.....
