He has been important for us and is still a good player, but we need to sell and cash in. Fond memories and sentimentality won’t take us to the PL. We are slower, more predictable and we are not playing as a team when he is in the team. He’s under contract til June 30th 2028, so we can prob get at least £ 5 mill for him. Saudi league maybe £ 7-10 mill.

A very interesting debate Swede so please take a well deserved bow.
I weirdly was thinking about Chair this morning and how him being injured may or may not have had an impact on our recent upturn of form.
Listen unlike many on here I am a massive Chair fan and the reason we're talking about him being a saleable asset is because he is one of the most talented attacking players in this division.
For me It still goes back to not picking the best individuals but picking your best team. Chair does have an exceptional delivery and vision but is guilty of slowing down play. The exciting direct football certainly makes it impossible for the manager to throw him straight back in. I'm not at the stage where I want him sold and I was very happy he signed an extension.
The positive is we're finally building a proper squad of say 15/16 players that you'd all be happy to see on the field. It's great we finally have competition for chair and that is a healthy position that the club finds itself in but I can see why this brings up an interesting topic to discuss.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I think it was mentioned recently, perhaps by Nourry in the last fans forum, that Chair was valued at £5m a few years ago, but no bids marialised when we were prepared to sell him.
He's now coming up to 28yrs next month, missed 17 games last season through injury and only scored twice as an attacking midfielder. Also, he has already missed 4 games this season. Would you like to see us pay £5m for this type of player?
I would be amazed if we got £1m for him. He may have been our best player a few years back, but our squad was cack! He's now the type of player that moves on a free transfer when his contract expires, or for a nominal fee as a squad player. With our young squad developing Im happy to see him part of our squad rotation.

Not to mention losing possession by not releasing the ball and some highly ineffective shooting from outside the box when he cuts in.Originally posted by 3London View PostI also think Chairs style of play doesn’t suit the system we are currently playing. He slows the game down with a lot of touches allowing the opposing team time to get set defensively.

Well I’d say we need a squad and some of them will get injured. At the end of the day everyone has a price but see no need to pick on anyone who works their socks off and has had to put up with some pretty dire players around him in the past. As many have said we’ve been waiting for a top striker and looks like we have one at least now , so chair has someone better to pass forward too, assuming he’s picked in such a competitive squad

Your easily amazed in a very uneconomical way.
He is not fitting in to what is our best system and way of play. That will be a problem when he is playing and when he isn’t playing. I believe he isn’t the best for team spirit and morale when things aren’t going his way.

Maybe a Saudi club would want him. But some fans, who are close to the running of the club, have told me he loves London, life at QPR and his family are very settled here with his kids in school. I dont think he'd be remotely interested in a move.Originally posted by swede View Post

Maybe, some of his previous failings were down to him trying to carry the team. Hopefully in this team he'll release the ball more and become a better all round player. Its fantasic to have him in the squad.

IMO As others have said he’s been guilty of holding onto the ball too long, equally he’s had some right pony to feed the ball too but now with kone, Burrell, vale and saito plus poku to come back he’s got options and for us to have options is great we’ve got some ability in the final 3rd at last
Also different subject but credit to Madsen who’s been popping the ball around in midfield quicker too
Also note forgot dembele above too. ( not bad problem too have for js )

The last season or so been very up and down for him, since his legal issues really. Prior to that he was consistently our best creative outlet and in my view had the ability to be playing for a team at upper end of table. However a move didn't materialise and I view this as a positive now. With the change around we have had we have a team bursting with young talent, particularly at that end of the pitch. Some of those players will go onto better things and with any luck earn us a decent whack doing so and some will find their level with us. Given Chair's age and seeming contentment to stay he could easily have 5+ more years and be a key player at that end of the pitch while others around him come and go. We need a core say handful of first team regulars that stay with us. I could see him being that along with likes of say Dunne and Field (yes know he is out of side at present) and one or two others.
I agree he has been too slow releasing the ball, which may well have put off some suitors, but totally different dynamic around him. Kone to me looks to have the potential to be the best striker we have had since our relegation from the top flight in the 90s, I know early days. Burrell is a rough diamond but his pace and direct play will unsettle a lot of teams in this division and his technical play will improve. Koki looks a bargain at £2.8m. Add likes of Poku, Dembele, Vale, Smyth and anyone I have missed off and Chair will have an embarrassment of riches around him to play into.
I don't expect him to start every game. With the players we have now he is in the same boat as them. He will have to earn his place. I am interested to see how Stephan uses him once he is back.
I could maybe see a team challenging for promotion looking to take a punt on him if he has a good two or three months leading up to January but think more likely he will stay. Is nice to now have players who seem to actually enjoy being at the club. Atmosphere at times has been toxic and I got the impression that for a number of players the only reason they were here is they couldn't get anything better.
