We only need to win two games a month up to January to keep in touch. I think that's doable but we failed in August and only won once so could do with catching up this month by winning 3, but it's not an exact formula, more a rule of thumb. Two wins on the spin is most welcome though.
This is the last season QPR Bond Holders can receive a 25% promotion bonus on their investment if we go up - would make a few thousand of us extra happy if they obliged in May!

We have a much superior squad to last season, and the bench today showed that. The biggest difference is competition up top and players to cover injuries and suspensions. A top ten finish is a must, and as Abs says, top 6 seems very achievable.
We have to go for it this season because the way things have gone do far, you can see Kone being snapped up next season. Its so hard getting so much player turnover every summer, so the time is now!

Like everybody, I want to be a top 2 team and get promoted, and without question we have the best squad for many a year.Originally posted by SheepRanger View Post
50 points is a given.
We'll have none of this "lets get safe from relegation first".
We are a top half team....no ifs no buts!

Bring in Edward’s at Xmas and we could be well sorted, once again he was an unused substitute again today against Pompey.
Patients my fellow R’sI have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

We've beat two sides who could have beaten us with a bit more luck in their side.
That's both worrying and also something you say about teams that are in the playoffs picture.
With Leicester in the shape they are about spending money this is our best chance in a long time to go up and I think the board have given us a good squad with a good chance to do it.
But I do think that like Dunne, Edward might not be the all conquering defender he was last season under this coaching setup. Not sure how Marti's group was able to do to get a tune out of Dunne but this lot need to replicate it as he was immense. Hopefully the extra money hasn't gone to his head and he's doesn't feel he doesn't need to try now.

beating 2 promoted teams who we should be beating doesn't make us promotion contenders and it was only a few short weeks ago that many if not most were declaring this the worst team and manger we had had for years and demanding he be sacked and the board too.
lets see where we are after 10 games.

If the squad is used properly and we can avoid an injury crisis like last year I would say top 10 perfectly possible. When you look at the players yet to come back we will have some serious competition and back up in most positions.
Very early days but Stephan seems willing to mix things up a bit and his substitutions last couple of games have worked well. Kone really does look the business and can see why Luton allegedly offered £6m+ for him. Burrell has made a big step up both last season and this season. He is already a handful and I expect him to improve a fair bit over the season. Vale looks promising, other new signings mainly good and great to have Koki back. Think we maybe needed that 7-1 to wake us up otherwise I could see us having continued to drift, play ok in part but lose or draw too many games.
Beating Wrexham and Charlton won't win us anything. However in both those games they had spells where they threatened to take over and we managed to make changes and shift momentum back to us. Generally that didn't happen often over last couple of years or so and these are exactly the kind of games we would mess up in. Not to mention we actually carry some threat and not so dependent on stopping other side scoring and hoping to nick odd goal.
He has had some stick but have to say the state of this squad both in terms of ability and saleability has improved immeasurably since Nourry came in. Not every signing has worked but high proportion have and gone from one of the oldest squads in the league to one of the youngest. Pretty impressive over such a short period of time.

Not sure what you mean with your opening statement?Originally posted by LordLoftus View PostWe've beat two sides who could have beaten us with a bit more luck in their side.

Both Charlton & Wrexham had chances but didnt score. Thats bad play and doesnt make us lucky because of it. By that metric we were unlucky not to score more from every opportunity we had in these games.
Wrexham had 8 shots on target against our 6. But we scored 3 and they only scored 1 because on the day our strikers were more clinical than theirs. I dont take that to be luck.
Charlton had 3 shots on target against our 6, we scored 3 and them 1.
But against Wrexham we did let them dominate us for parts of the game. But was that to conserve energy so we revered to a low block strategy (got more players behind the ball in old speak), instead of the high press (aggressive midfield play to win the ball back, keep the ball in their half and attack). It would be a hard ask for us to dominate every game and as a former defender myself, I like seeing good defensive play.
I do agree that the Charlton & Wrexham games were not against top teams, but you can only beat what's in front of you.
Lets see where we are against Stoke, but there's nothing there to be scared of. Im sure their bubble will burst eventually after their good start. I dont see them as favourites to beat us next Sat now our new team is starting to gell.

I remember when Leicester won The Prem everyone was picking holes in their performances (they didn't really want the ball, invited pressure and hit teams on the break) so it made their stats look pisspoor. Experts constantly predicting they'll blow up soon, or they'll get spanked when they play the big guns. Didn't happen did it? It's all about winning games - nothing else matters.
People forget this is the 2nd tier and not elite football so it's not like you get punished for every mistake or every chance you present to the opposition. Sure, be great to have 80% possession and concede no shots or attempts on goal but that isn't going to happen. Kone and Burrell WILL terrify defences this season and our trio of tricky minifigs will pull defenders about and tie them in knots. Attack is the best form of defence and for first time in a long while we have a fast potent front line. There is every reason to believe that this team can mount a serious and sustained promotion push.
