S'funny.... that bit in the open letter from owners asking us to remember how delicate the young 'uns are and how awful it is for foreign players trying to settle into English football immediately made me think they're tee'ing up for bringing Richards back into the fold.

I know he's not young or foreign but I felt the gist of their point was that footballers are humans too and we should be nice to them at all times.....

Personally I'd rather club signed robust individuals who can take the rough with the smooth rather than asking us to grant unconditional forbearance to any lightweights they sign.

I wouldn't rush into offering him anything till the end of the season if he's still here.
He isn't going to have people knocking his door down.
And if we do offer him earlier we have to insist on clauses to stop us paying for no work.

For all we know, he might have turned up for training every day, could have been picked, wasn't. 45 minutes was enough for Monk.

You can get by in training, hide in crowd etc. You can't in competitive match. You're exposed.

Will he start game this season, doubt it.

He's a lazy sod very much in the fold of Djibril Cissé who thinks he's better than he actually is. Most of you on here loved the latter so should look to give Richards a chance but I'm certainly not in that category!

Why? Last three seasons, League matches. He's been in starting eleven once. One time his manager thought he deserved starting place.

Kevin De Bruyne was almost released at Genk because he didn't have the right attitude, wasn't a team player, didn't join in social events etc.

Ousmane Dembele always claimed to be injured and had his professionalism questioned at Barcelona and Dortmund so both clubs were happy to let him go. Now he's at PSG and was a major part in them winning the champions league. 15 games, 8 goals, 6 assists in champions league.

And if you want a lower league version then look at Lawrence Vigouroux. Clashed with Swindon mgmt, was fined and paid it in pennies. Had to take a knock back to rebuild his career at Leyton Orient. Went on to play for Burnley, Swansea, and became a Chile squad regular. I don't think you sit in any national team on the bench unless your attitude is there. Its one thing as a star player but a bench warmer and #3 goalkeeper?

All I'm saying is everyone of these players had a moment where they turned it around and went on to have a career their talents deserved and plenty of managers have thought Richards had the talent.

Something happened in each of their careers to make them go "I'll show them" and maybe Richards had this at Cambridge. He showed a willingness to go there in the first place, many players wouldn't have done that to begin with, let alone to be humbled and not get to play. If I were him I'd feel Id want to show the world they were wrong about me too.

Even high-potential players can fall out of favor, but with resilience, discipline, and opportunity, players can rewrite their narrative.

Will Richards? Who knows.
As he's a QPR fan I hope so.

Ooops just thought of an even more obvious example at a player whose attitude was terrible and was never going to do anything because of it.

Adel Tarabat.
Granted his attitude wasn't fixed really until he went to Benfica, but he's another player that falls into the list where clubs and fans complained about his attitude.
