Cook - Extends Contract

I know his last contract was reported at £30k a week, but with his age and recent foot injuries, I'm hoping he'll be down to the £12k mark now. Perhaps some appearance bonus on top if he gets over 25 games. We really need to be signing him on the basis that's he's a back up.
Hopefully Cook's reduced wages, and some of Fox's if we release him, can be offered to Dunne. He deserves to be our top earner now.
Between Cook, Morrison, Dunne, JCS and maybe one of the youngsters there's enough to fill the two or three CB positions.

Extension clause was triggered. QPR didn't offer anything. 60 appearances made it automatic. Doubt pay has decreased, going to be expensive.
My view. Didn't want to keep Cook. JCS misses plenty of matches. Not convinced Cook will be available enough either.
Colback might have similar clause.

The miserable cynic in me is wondering if him hitting the magic number of appearances necessary to trigger the extension was the starting point of his extended absences through injury?
Whatever, it is what it is..... hopefully he can stay fit, be a regular starter and maintain the excellent standards he has shown here before his niggly absences kicked in.

I'd guess his astronomical wages are still getting paid. Gotta be honest, I'm dubious about this being good news - he's another year older, with a dodgy foot injury and getting paid the equivalent of 3 or 4 players... it's a BIG chunk of our budget.

Yeah, it seems I was being very optimistic and wasn't aware of this 60 appearance clause which is now being widely reported. If he's still on £30k a week that's going to hold us back for another year. As you say, that's equivalent to 2-3 players at our current rate of pay. I hope he has a blinder!!

Hopefully the extension would have been negotiated at his initial signing, taking into account his age if activated.
Last season he was badly hampered by injury, but the season before he was rightly voted our player of the season.
Personally I think he's a leader on and off the pitch and glad he's going to be around for another year.

His 30k a week 1.5k in wages would we find a cb under that I doubt it
i can see him staying here once he retires to coach if he’s fit he’s a decent player in this league and will help Morrison develop jcs is more of a concern re fitness and wages tied up imo
