I sense it could well come back on the agenda for us now given the real chance that Abramovich assets could be frozen and possibly seized and the 1.5bn debt that could be owned. There was "talk" about us buying SB when they were thinking of building a new ground at the Battersea Power Station site. I seem to remember....?
I don't think ground sharing would be an option and I cant see them having access to dirty money now to launder it though the building a new stadium.
Their budget will be serevely slashed next season without Abram proping them up. Seeing them in the lower half of the premiership will be nice to see.

Knock the place down and rebuild it into a 30,000 seater stadium.Comment

Even without Abram being sanctioned money from Russia can no longer be moved into the UK. Chelsea are going to have a massive hole in their finances from now on!! I suspect they'll be selling a lot of their top players in the summer as they try to balance the books.Comment

They will have to, but im not sure selling players alone will be enough to cover the debt.
They will have to look at other areas, even selling the ground may well happen, which is where we come in.
Chelsea could very well have to move elsewhere if worse comes to the worse to save money, perhaps the option of Wembley may well come back on the agenda for them.Comment

The historical debt is only relevant if RA wants it back. He may well end up selling the club for, say £750m, and write off the remaining debt.

Surely he's got "legitimate" money salted away elsewhere around the globe that could be moved in?

My understanding is that RA was gifted / bought cheap a state run oil company. Is any money legit after being handed something from Putin?
As an oligarch is the money actually RA's or is he "looking after it" for the real owner - Putin.
Some say the oligarchs are just Putin's bankers.Comment

Indeed, hence "legitimate" in quotes.

This exactly.
The idea that suddenly Chelsea will be bankrupt doesn't make a lot of sense and they have a number of very good players that they could sell each season to cover any losses. Their fans suddenly stop going to games and they could still qualify for the lucrative Champions League.
even after selling a few players.
I think the main problem they could face is a backlash from a big fan base in places like Asia and even some British and European fans who began supporting them during the current era.

Well if the money is really Putin's he hasn't got a hope of ever getting his hands on it.

Chelsea could get seized and sold with the proceeds going to the Govt. Hopefully we'll get the proceeds through proceeds going to our gas and electricity suppliers to offset the rises in prices caused by Putin turn down the taps.Comment
