As bad as some think Ossie was last night, at least he tried. Some others didn't seem up for it at all. Willock may aswell have stayed at home. Not going to go too hard on him as the lad has been very good for us but his attitude last night was poor. Can't be strolling around when there is a chance to get into a league Cup qf.

agree - it wasn't just Willock there is very little intensity - i think we have a lot of Strollers in the team - 10 mins to go and we are so slow out from the back - right down to Dieng taking goal kicks - i know he is a laid back guy but walking to receive a ball for a goal kick then passing short to 2 centre backs who seem content to play tricky tacky across the back four. All a bit casual.

even down to the spot kicks - you could tell chair and Barbet were going to miss as they left the centre circle!

There was a lack of intensity to our play especially in the first half where we just expected Sunderland to roll over and allow us to play around them. None of our back 3 had a second on the ball and we struggled to get in behind them all night.

Chair is wasted playing centre mid. Terrible decision to put him there especially when we have dozzell and johanssen who are our specialists in that area. Instead we shoved a forward into the middle of the pitch and left amos marking 2 or 3 men when Sunderland broke forward.

Gray looked well off the pace and continues to look overweight. Austin waddled onto the pitch and looks like hes carrying a few extra pounds he didn't have last year. These lads are professional sportsmen but seem to be carrying excess weight which is astounding in the todays game.

Like Marc Bircham said in an interview, every time we have a chance to achieve something, we #### it up.
Agree. very strange set up from Warburton. He and the team seem to under estimate the opposition (again). Is it the success of last year on some players makes them think they think that they are better than they actually are? There is no substitution - at any level - for hard work. If only Warburton had started with Duke-McKenna introduced to late so that his energy could galvanise the team. Also dissapointed with Gray If there was one game were he could have shown us what he was about then this was it. As a striking pair they were awful no anitcipation of Dykes nod ons. Will Warburton learn? Or will all be about that poor offside decision.

Austin on talksport this morning having a moan about it. I'd rather he was at training trying to get himself fit instead of being sat in a radio station trying to make people laugh. It doesn't send a great message out to the youngsters does it?

I thought only Dieng , De wijs & Barbet could escape criticism last nite…& I’m still trying to fathom out Warbs thinking regarding the substitution changes …

Barbet!!! Misplaced passes - pushed one our players out of the way only to miss the header himself- and as for the Pen!

I thought Amos was ok and Dykes won virtually every header

                  my criticisms are.

                  1. Kakay - so so bad last night and could have been taken off after 15 mins when it was clear he had no idea what he was doing - out of position defensively and un passable to in attack

                  2. we do not have any variation in attack - gray for austen is like for like - old and knackered - Austen at least offers a bit of fight and spirit - we need Bonne back or invest in a quick fox in the box type strike.

                  3. Dickie - can someone test him and check its the same bloke who started the season -currently the weak link in the back 3 - so ponderous.

                  4. Willock - ditto - and i am not sure we can play him and chair in the same team if we stick to this formation - chair our in form player had to play so deep or wide to accommodate willock who was so out of form last night.

                  5. Warburton - So predictable with his subs last night 60 mins a striker ....etc etc Amos for Dozzell - like for like

so typically rangers that we beat the likes of everton and get perhaps on paper the easiest of draws and then blow it.

I think Rob is suffering from having to cover the entire right defensive flank on his own. Look at the FFC game, first thing they did from kick off is launch a ball into the space where a right-back would be if we had one. Rob's immediately scrambling backwards and sideways and conceding a corner with barely 5 seconds on the clock.
Warburton's thickheaded intransigent system of 3-at-the-back is clearly getting noted by opposition coaches who have the wit to tweak their tactics to exploit it.

I feel quite certain we have a decent 1st X! that is very capable of doing well this season. However, half of them are looking laboured, plodding and clueless under Warburton's management. Warburton is the problem, not the players.

This team has become stale and there isn't much indication that things will improve, I'm sure if we won on pk's or the ref and lino didn't screw us much of the negativity wouldn't be present on here today but the warning signs have been there for a while now! Speaking of the corrupt call against us I was shocked that anyone could watch that and say it was offside, I had to watch it over again, the whole sequence from different angles and the only thing I could add is it was a handball as well, how can any of you say that was onside, shocking! I sure hope we can gather some points and stay in the play off mix leading up to the January window at which point our glaring deficiencies may be addressed, funny how many of us are calling for a return of Bonne after wanting him out of here! MW is not without criticism from me, I don't like how he is setting us up or many player selections but he has shown with the pieces to put in place he can achieve results, I don't think he has all the pieces right now as our wingback play is mostly horrendous, the return of Wallace and Field should improve the squad but we need others to step up their game or be dropped!

To get the best out of Chair and Willock we have to give them free roles behind one striker .The problem then is you only have Johansen and another in centre midfield, which we all agree has left our back 3 exposed at times this season .The only other thing to do is go 4 at the back but I’m not sure our defence could cope with that due to lack of pace and quality in fullback areas. In short Warbs has some thinking to do , the return of Field and Wallace will help but if we are pinning our hopes on a 35 year old wingback we really are struggling.

Just to add to that I feel bringing in Andre Gray has muddied the waters a bit in that Warbs feels obliged to give him game time and it’s clearly not working out for him and us .I don’t think it’s an attitude thing just that he doesn’t feel like the right fit for us , I don’t think Bonne would have done any worse .

I’m beginning to doubt our fitness levels are up to scratch to create any tempo in our play

We start games so slowly and fail to press opponents with any real conviction.

So many of our players look immobile,in and out of possession of the ball.

Having reflected, from my point of view, the last couple of results have put my expectations in check. We do look stale and slow.

I know Warbs wants him to have another U23 game under his belt but wouldn’t it be great if Field was in the squad for Friday.

                            Need Mccalum back too.

Clear that Stef and Dom will start on Friday. Intrigued as to who will start up top. I hope it’s just Dykes but he has played the last 2 for 90 mins. We can’t seem to hold the ball up without him!

Contrary to what others are saying I would start with 5 at the back but bring back De Vijs instead of Dunne. We did actually keep a clean sheet yesterday which was the only positive!!

4-3-3 is the only solution for our group of players. The four at the back are anybody guess. In midfield, Johanssen will be partnered by Ball and Amos, while the front three must be Willock, Dykes and Chair. The system is our problem and if we persist with our way of playing, we will lose many more points. Last season, it was only after we changed our shape after the Christmas period that we started climbing the table. However, all teams now know how we play, where the weaknesses are and so on. MW must change tactics again before everything crumble down.
