Well where did the high player wages come from?
We bought all those and more from the lower leagues, so I can't see as how players on huge wages were an issue.
It's why we always looked lower down, because we couldn't buy top notch players.

I hate Thompson for doing that to the club.
So for me selling players year on year doesn't work and won't end well.
But...if you sell big occasionally and then replace with a quality young up and coming youngster, is our best bet.
We signed all those above from lower leagues, and sold them on, but you can't do it as Thompson did it, and lined his pockets, at the expense of the club's prem status.
As I say with good scouting, and knowledgeable football people you can pickup rough diamonds and polish them up.
The other way doesn't work for Rangers, we don't have the respect of these big players and they took the money and ran

What are you on about? I was referring to the comment about moving on from selling Les? We free falled down to the third tier as a result of selling him.[/
(however, time will tell how well the current board and Co. do.)
that’s your comment in brackets I was referring to

We didn’t free fall because we sold Les , the recruitment from Wilkins was dreadful . Hately , Sommer , Goodridge , Zelic to name a few . He also persisted with certain kids that weren’t good enough Challis and Brazier spring to mind . The only decent player he bought was Osborne from Reading and then sold him within months.

yes, when we sold Sinton, but we went down after selling Les. Then went into admin and the third tier. That’s not what I call moving on.

however, time will tell how well the current board and Co. do. Good luck to them.

Even when we actually got promoted back into the Prem and we started buying all these expensive players (before the flop) I remember saying its good but doesn't feel like my team. There are many Clubs as big or bigger than us that are now languishing in lower divisions and
or facing extinction. We haven't had the bucket out for some time and that was pre Les. On-wards and upwards I say, but for too many that's not what they want to see or hear:-)

The more I think about about the Eze deal the more I appreciate it. Not one of the big Premier teams came in for him, that will be next time, when he's an established Premier League player, and with a 40% sell on clause we could benefit from a similar amount of money in a couple of years (if not we'll just buy him back on the cheap).

My other half supports Burnley and, every time she comes to a game, she cannot believe the amount of whining negativity that she hears. Judging from a recent interview, Warburton has been shocked by it and, frankly, I'm sick of reading and hearing it; it sucks the life out of everyone exposed to it.

Anyone who actually works at the top end of an organisation and knows anything about management also knows that perpetual whinging is corrosive and a sign that someone needs to be moved on to a 'better fit'. Of course, these insights are not required if your organisation is a chip van in a lay-by. In this instance, it's probably ok to grind an increasingly dull axe.

And, no, I don't work for the club.
    I agree.

Nobody can defend past mistakes as they are obvious for all to see. But lessons have been learned and the Eze sale alone and the hard stand on BOS/Manning shows we're now going in a different direction. I wish people would 'move on' but everyone has the right to voice their views in a constructive manner. Some will never accept that Les is up to the job and that's their prerogative.

I don't work for the club either, even though I'm postive about our current strategy and was very critical of our past strategy.
