Queen’s Park Rangers are set to ease their defensive woes by swooping for Scot Liam Lindsay.

The Championship outfit, currently bottom of the table, have conceded 13 goals in their first four matches of the season.

Former England boss Steve McClaren, now in charge at Loftus Road, hasn’t been put off by Barnsley’s asking price of £4 million.

However, he faces competition from Italian outfit Brescia, whose owner Massimo Cellino knows all about the former Partick Thistle defender from his time in charge at Leeds.

Centre half Lindsay, 22. impressed in his debut season in England following his £350,000 move from Firhill last summer, despite Barnsley’s relegation to League One.

Thistle have a 10 per cent sell on clause in his contract and will net a considerable sum if he moves before the end of the month.

Lindsay is on the fringes of Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad and with injuries to Christophe Berra and Scott McKenna may even find himself in the group for the forthcoming fixtures against Belgium and

i think it unlikely but we would not be pay £4mil up front and in today’s market £4mil is not actually that much. We need a CB and they appear to be pushing boat out so stranger things have happened. From famine to feast
