Players With One Year Left On Contract

    Sylla
    Bidwell
    Washington
    Hall
    Pawel Wszolek
    Cousins
    Baptiste
    Furlong
    Niko Hämäläinen
    Kakay
    Olamide Shodipo
    Paul Smyth

Not good that it's been allowed to get to a situation where as many as 12 players can walk on a free in a years time.

Its worrying at the moment but if we're having a bad season it will become extremely concerning at the turn of the year.

Surely most/some of these will be either given new deals soon or already have an offer on the table

Fck that - I'm more worried about 2020 when we have 11 players out of contract !!!

If we do well this season they'll be on the radar and most could get a better contract elsewhere We won't be able to afford them.

That won't happen...don't you know we're going down because we've sold Smithies and Robinson has gone on a walk...

Smyth is key there. We need to be ruthless. Get him to sign up to a new contract by start of season or put him in to train with the kids with no match time. A player of his age needs games to develop and if he wants the step up in club or wages beyond next season he needs to be playing regularly now.

We’ve shown with the ridiculously underpriced sale of Smithies if he has a good season we will still sell him but this way the club gets something back as well

We should be signing players on 10 year contracts then?

                        absolutely...

we've quickly forgotten the frustrating days of counting down the years left on, say, shaun wright-phillips or y'man caulker's contracts and now believe that everyone needs to be tied down for at least 3 years in the future.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Shopido sold sooner rather than later. Sylla and Wzsolek will leave if they don't get decent playing time. Can't see Washington staying either unless he has a fair season.

Down to all of them to earn a new deal under the new manager, just as much as it is for him to make them want to stay.

Just my opinion, but if McClaren had been here last season, I think that as a squad they would have performed better and more consistently, meaning that there would have been more reason to think about the positives of staying and going up this year.
