Wouldn't be surprised if they were desperate to avoid FFP, like we did for a while. According to the transfer league site, they spent a net £26m on players in the 15/16 season, which is more than their annual turnover. Unless I'm reading it all wrong (quite likely).

In a statement released by the Rams, Morris said that the club needs a "manager who shares our values" and that, whoever replaces McClaren, will be given time.

The Derby Way is now replaced !

Feel bit sorry for Steve McClaren, #Derby were 20th when he took over with just 10 pts from opening 11 games (scored only 6 goals). #dcfc

Exactly, they're trying to find a manger who fits that bill.

Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                                And many more mistakes
