They would have to sell tickets in advance of giving the cash to make sure it was worth doing at alland that the fans actually would pay that much.

20,to 30 quid and there would be less than five thousand people there imo. Probably a lot less.

It would be cheaper and probably make more money if they just let people who want to contribute do so and then donate that to Stan... I'd be amazed if more than 5-6,000 turned up for a charity match so there's a big chance it will end up losing money.

Hence Hoos saying what he did. If it doesnt make more than 50k its a totally pointless excercise.
Also i read yesterday that the club pays for all Stans medical treatments/bills. Dom6t know how true that is but id like to believe it.

That is the absolute bottom line.

Contribution to Bowles comes out of the profits. If it only covers the costs then there is no point doing it

You can donate to Stan’s GoFundMe account: www.gofundme.com/StanBowles or make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society via www.alzheimers.org.uk

Which is one of the points Hoos was making. Plus trying to ensure that things are done in such a way that Stan gets the maximum benefit as opposed to others.

Personally, quite the opposite. Makes the committee look like a bunch of drama queens and shows the club are handling the situation in a very professional manner IMO, credit to them.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

                      I'm with you Matty.

As Brian said on the other thread, terrific that certain people are trying to raise money for Stan but their understanding of how best to do is is lacking and quite frankly, their attitude towards the club is nothing short of disgraceful.

yep agree with Matty and Brighton. From day one this campaign seems to have been pretty confrontational towards the club (how dare they not announce a match already!??!?! etc) at a point when the club is better run than it has been in well over a decade, and has done more for former players in the past two years than in the previous twenty. Don't know why they were so eager to paint Hoos etc as evil villains here, leaves a bad taste. I'm sure this'll work out soon enough, just needs a bit of goodwill from both sides

We've received this update from the club's media dept:

"Following Lee Hoos’ statement last week on the proposed Stan Bowles benefit match, we’ve had a number of supporters come forward and offer their services.

If any other supporters have professional skills that they believe can help, or has testimonial experience, please contact Andy Rees at the club via andyr@qpr.co.uk by Monday 23rd January to register your interest."

sounds like the club don't want to do anything.

looking for people who has experience in testimonials??

                              bloody joke.
