I was hoping this was a first team thing with preseason friendlys as Basingstoke are my local side!

Not sure if anyone is interested but Basingstoke were relegated from the conference south (where most teams are semi pro) Basingstoke announced yesterday that they're going full time in the league below, crazy
      Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
      And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Full time in the Southern League Premier! wow. Must have a lot of money available. Some good sides in that division, but if full time they have to walk it.

I've never heard of a full time team in that league, have you?

Also Basingstoke are in a poor way money wise I thought, none of the fans understand this move

Anyone know what this is about and why we are bothering with it? Doesn't compute to my head for some reason.

Think we're setting up a "satellite" academy Kev. Its like an academy outpost, giving us stronger links in that area. I know Southampton have the Bath academy where a lot of their higher profile players came through. The person who spoke for Qpr is head of 9-12 year olds so thats how we have profiled this allegiance

Don't think so Shania, think it is more to do with the fairly close proximity to west London
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

It will just be easy for them to arrange academy fixtures for the junior sides, I believe Basingstoke have decent facilities and I would not be surprised if our under 18's and 21's played some fixtures at there ground. Most of our local semi pro teams do not have the best facilities as I am sure the club would have preferred.
