Good luck to him, a cracking save from him today, hope he keeps it consistent
Lumley played against Forest, or did i miss something and he came on as sub, don't remember that though

He played against Forest earlier this season when Green was sent off and to be honest on that day Smithies didn't look very good. But looked better in the next game against Blackburn. Today he was much much better though.

The negative atmosphere surrounding the Club have to affect any individual player. Taking that into consideration he has handled the pressure very well, imo.

Thought he was unlucky for the goal as it had 2 deflections on the way in.

Brilliant performance at the weekend.. It's nice to have a goalkeeper who can seemingly kick!

Sometimes a disadvantage of attending matches. Sitting in R block..thoughts his saves in second half were quiet good. Watching it back on TV following night, on of his saves was superb.
No mug, good keeper, needs to form partnership with defenders..pretty sure he will .

With a good run of games under his belt Smithies will be immense for us.

What is now rather annoying is knowing we would have won a few more games had he been in goal rather than Green. That saying of a good keeper wins you 7 - 8 points a season is really true having seen Green play and Smithies. Green wouldnt have had a triple save to make as the first one would have probably gone in.

Its often the same with goals, you see them from parts of the stadium and think yeah that's ok but watching it back on TV you see how good it actually is (or bad come to that)
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

Agree, and he still got a foot on it but weight all going the other way. No way his fault, just bad luck. Geezer could have been closed down earlier though.

And leave his line in support of his defenders. He doesn't mope about looking like his dog just died either.
