I think he looked quite good overall and made at least 2 outstanding saves, no chance on the goal!

Good performance, embarrasing even to think that the goal was down to him

Very unlucky with their goal, it took a couple of deflections going in. Overall great performance. Didn't feel as nervous as I did when Green was in. And pulled off some top class saves too.

Honestly not sold on Smithies yet, against Notts Forest & today he fumbled simply balls that's are VERY basic

Good luck to him, a cracking save from him today, hope he keeps it consistent
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

Know what you mean by that ginge. Felt like he had it covered and wasn't cringing every time he came for a ball expecting him to drop it. And he managed to kick the ball out between those two ####ing great white lines which was quite novel

Yeah I saw the spilled one but I still didn't feel nervous, felt like he even had the spill under control.

The lad did well today, how many of his kicks (goal or drop) went out of play? Greeno take note
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

Found myself thinking 'Green wouldn't have come for that' or 'Greeno would have kicked that straight into the East Paddock'

Can't fail to be impressed with Smithies saves, especially the one low to his right, but his kicking also had distance and accuracy, and he commanded his area well enough

Thanks (not for this season) Greeno, but I'm confident our future is in good hands with Smithies

Not putting him down.. Just think he will only get better with more games.

He was excellent. Great triple save and almost got his leg fully to stop the goal. Miles better than Green. Plus he came and caught comfortably. One error but still had it under control. No complaining either constantly and he can kick.
