In all honesty, i dont think there is one. This season i would imagine Austins chance to goal ratio is awesome (just guessing). I dont think within our budget we are going to find anyone who can come near to that.

If people think Austin struggles to play up front on his own, i think they are in for a shock if we sign Gayle and leave him up there like the lone ranger. We need the rest of the midfielders to start chipping in more.

We will not get a like for like with Austin, so need to change the way we play in order to spread the goals out.

Well lets hope Jimmy Floyde can instill the need for them show a bit more adventure in their play after all it's supposed to be part of their job

Fair point and i think he will. Isnt going to happen overnight, so consolidate for now and see what team and style he puts together for next year

I always anticipated this being a season of consolidation..we had no given rught to go straight back up..though I think Warnock may have had us in a loftier position with the squad we have!

I would love us to get Gayle, but sadly enough, I think Norwich is a team which will pull out all the stops to get him. He will suit their way of playing, I think.

Gayle in 4 4 2 with a decent partner and serive would be awesome.

I doubt very much Gayle would even consider us but on ssn just now they said that Pardew will let Gayle leave this window but only on a perm so that rules us out as there is no way we will spend anywhere near the amount needed for his transfer fee and wages. Unless Les can broker a swap with Charlie going the other way which is very unlikely

Depends how good we are at negotiating. Lots of ways you can do transfers now. Might be a deal where we don't pay upfront or put payments off until the summer.

Wish we were a club who spent money, hate watching every other club buying loads of players every transfer window and we don't ever spend a penny. Same as every window for us, not a single pound being spent yet again. Same old same old from this tight bunch of shysters who are only here for a bit of land we don't own.

Lets hope then that something can/will be done. Gayle must be desperate for a bit of regular football and we are desperate for a bit of speed and movement. I do think that some of our slowness over the last few years is having forwards (Vargas aside as he was never really given a chance up top) which haven't exactly been fast or good at making runs or play on the front foot, which doesn't get the best out of midfielders with a touch of flair. Yes i know Charlie has scored a lot of goals for us but he is hardly very mobile or fast. Nor was Zamora.

This is what I am beginning to think move the club into a good financial position, more attractive for potential buyers and bang
